Random question:

I'm not normally one for sticking to sell by or use by dates within reason, however this one takes the biscuit a little... My mrs has a bottle of Baileys she was about to tuck into, but just happened to notice that the 'best taste before' date is May 2004 lol!

How long life is the cream in this cream liqueur! Or does the alcohol tend to preserve it? If she has a sip will she shrivel up and die within 24 minutes and will it be covered on the life insurance?

PMSL.....Baileys usually goes hard and un-pourable from the bottle when it goes off. We bought some from Asda a few years back, and when we come to drink it it was a solid rock....Asda had had a bad batch and exchanged it though.

It pours fine, it looks fine and even smells fine!

Must be off then mate as it's normally rank...

Then go for it mate.....

.....If it tastes fine, then what the hell...!!! Alcohol is a preservative, after all...

And as for the date - "best before" is a whole lot different to "use by" If it says "use by" then it is a perishable product that could have adverse effects if consumed; but "best before" won't give you the lurgy, but it might not taste so good...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

taste it, if it tastes ok then go for it, booze is booze no matter how old it is, just pretend its a vintage

Assume the bottle was unopened?! Don't know if I would trust Baileys, its cream based. Would be worried in case it was full of listeria!!! Plenty of time to recover before Christmas tho!

Female - hmmm, best take care; could make you ill....:nono:

Male - WTF; it's booze, just drink it and be done with it......:pint:

Does anyone actually keep opened Baileys in the fridge like it instructs on the bottle?

Ive had a bottle open outside the fridge for years and occasionally drink a bit.

You ok........

Please at least sign in........

We've always got a bottle of baileys in the fridge. Tastes like school milk if its not cold!! Need less ice then, stops it going watery!

The alcohol will preserve it, otherwise the cream would go off in a coupe of weeks. If it tastes ok, it'll probably be fine.

If it pours drink it!!! Waste otherwise lol

As for keeping it in the fridge it doesnt last long enough in this house, opened the xmas bottle (oops) 30mins ago and its gone already lol
