Hi all,

Owned zed for over 15 years, it was in my garage for the last 5 years and only recently decided to put it back on the road, a little welding (my fault because I never fully covered the car) a leaking fuel tank, which I located through dave, a member of this club, who introduced me to this site, and very grateful to him, thanks again.

I just need a battery strap to finally get the beast back on the road, any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Hi, welcome to the club buddy. Get some pics up of your Zed. I may have a battery clamp somewhere, will have to have a look.

Hi, no pics at mo, zed still in the garage and to be honest it does need a re-spray, thanks for looking for the clamp, I am not a mot fitter, and although I did my apprenticeship on Caterpillar equipment many moons ago lol, not really sure if that my zed failed mot coz of battery strap ?

Welcome to the club mate.

Glad I could help with the tank :)

I'm sure if markderby reads this, he'll have a battery strap for you.

Hi mate, hows things, and yep tank was fitted by the garage and this is a caution to all zed owners - one of the garage owners on the original MOT told me the car was un repairable because of the welding, it was only after further consultation with another fitter that they, the garage owners, asked a 'proper weleder' to have a look and he said that he could repair the car, which was completed on saturday

and after I dropped the fuel tank on Monday which was fitted today and then the re-test he said I needed this battery strap, do you think he is being a bit awkward ? bearing in mind his original decision ?

Ive never had a battery strap and passed every MOT, depends how anal the guy was feeling that day

I took my zed to have all the brakes and front suspension done a couple of weeks back and was warned that I was missing my battery strap.

It turns out that its now part of an mot test to check that the battery is secured, still haven't got round to fitting my strap yet, probably guna be one of those jobs you do the weekend before the mots due :)

Seems to depend on the tester, I've not had a strap for years. Because the zeds battery sit in a nice tight hole it seems to be ok. Normally though yeah it's an issue.
