99 Spec Reverse Light Panel Copy - Better Than OEM !!

Well having put up my brake light flasher thread yesterday to mixed reaction but mostly a  to which I totally agree, I set to work and finished my newest creation and I challenge you not to like !!!

I have lit up reverse panels for a while now but this takes it to a new level. When 'off' the red 300ZX on mine is redder than the genuine one and mine even lights up, you can surely not get better than that :cool3:.

So here is the video of it against a genuine one - can you tell the difference ?

And because the video camera doesn't seem to pick up the redness very well I took a pic so view that lower down.

too orange :)

It's just the camera that does this, if you look at the genuine one in the background and we all know that these are red, you will see it is also looking 'orange'.

When I was working on this I realized it was going to turn out well, it wasn't until I got the genuine one out to compare did I notice that the redness was the same but mine was brighter looking - of course this is with the EL sheet off.

I haven't seen anybody do this before so the one you see is totally unique.

There is no reason why instead of red the outline can be done in any other colour if you so wished to maybe match your body colour, then have it light up another colour instead of the red.

I need to experiment a little further as I just sat down and did this first one, I also need to speed up the process as it took a while :cool3:.

What did you use to colour the outline?

Maybe a 'how to' in the FAQ section for all the bits you've been doing?

My wiring skills are pretty good if I know what I need to start with,

I'm already thinking of converting the rear lights to LED so to go a step further and do this at the same time isn't going to be an issue.

Having had someone local to me come and collar that first one I did above in some sort of exchange, perhaps he'll post up and clarify how red these are, I thought I'd experiment with different ways of doing them and also colours but at the moment I have stuck with the same, well practically the same, as red works so well and also they look 99 spec when off.

I still have some more experimenting to do as I want to try and keep that red outline (I did try blue but it wasn't stand out enough) but I am sure I can then illuminate in blue, green or yellow the 300ZX.

So here is a pic of the two I have done  bear in mind this is under my fluorescent lit garage and 3 EL sheets are running from the one invertor so the brightness does dim a fraction :thumbup1:.

Yep Guilty as charged, I collared the first one, its currently in my spares stash till my car comes back from lee dent. I can confirm that these panels are superb, the red is similar but brighter and better in my opinion than the 99 oem version.

When lit up it looks the bizz and Mr plod friendly too.

I have a gen 99 oem one fitted and will be changing it for Andy's version very soon Coz it looks factory but lights up too so best of both words, you wont be dissapointed if you get one.

I would love one of these to replace my One that has stopped working!! Although I would want it the same as mine with the 99spec lines continuing into the 4 clear chambers.

I can light up the genuine 99 spec ones FYI, making the red when off stronger and it'll light up at night also and you wouldn't know that I've fiddled with it !!!

Easy work that Dave :cool3:.

Can't believe I've only just seen this!

Am I right in thinking that you're offering to do these then? Near the top of my shopping list is a full set of 99 rears but I have always wanted the rear panel to light up red!

How much are we talking to get a genuine 99spec modded to light up??

I have a genuine 99 spec here, although I have opened one up before and I know what they look like inside I will have another look but I know 99% of what needs to be done already, so I'll be in touch but yes I'll do them if folk get them to me, just need to decide on a fee.

Well I'm definitely interested so let me know once you decide a fee.

Of course I do still need to purchase the 99specs but hopefully Santa will be good to me this year! lol

You or anybody else wants to send me a genuine 99 spec reverse light panel for me to maintain the red 300ZX when off, in fact I make it redder and then lights up red at night, I will do this work and send back for £45.00.

I have tried to keep this price down the best I can and have taken on board the costs involved in sending yours to me so have kept the price in total to around the £50.00 mark.

Your looking at a genuine 99 spec reverse light panel and it lights up, to my knowledge the only one of it's kind in the world :cool3:.
