In the Zed community where let's face it news travels very fast especially bad news, I have been sitting on this info/pics for about 3 weeks now and I get no pleasure from it but only to inform you all.

I was shown these pics and more of this car and it dawned on me that I had seen the car before, not having to look far I found it and it belong to a very high profile active member on here..........Paul C had owned this UK Zed 11 years, sold it earlier this very summer and within weeks.....well see below for yourself - now a Cat B, apparently 'the rear kicked out on a dual carriageway and the driver lost control'.

Sorry Paul if you didn't know bud, I guess the following pics will break your heart .

Genuinely feel for the guy who sold that, I'd rather not know if it were me.

I'm with mondo, you're doing something wrong if you spit yourself of a dual carriageway.

Funnily enough my girlfriends sat next to me and just said the same! Thanks Si for alerting me to this. Next time STFU lol!

Sooooooo gutted even though it's not mine it was very much my own creation! :crying:

Glad the owner is ok though and what happened to the traction control! Lol!

Have always said that RLTC is the best mod ever on a zed, I'm guessing it was off or set for too much slip?!

Oh wow, this was one of the cars on my list of potential Zs when I was looking. Very very sad to see it in such a way.

Best advice I was ever given about cars like these, by my dad when I was younger was:

The moment you stop respecting the car, it will bite you!

Such a shame followed many of the upgrades Paul did on the car. Never saw it in the flesh , but looked an absolute stunner

wow RIP. I this was another for sale when I was buying and was stunning - Was always a benchmark for how I want my blue zed to end up! lets hope it comes back on the market and it can be recycled and live on through 10 more Zeds

Yep - agreed!

I'd had years of nice cosy comfy front-wheel drive cars and within a few weeks of buying the Z I'd had the back out coming off a dry roundabout, racing a Golf GTi (of course...). That was when I realised it was time to wise up and start driving with my head again. The need to be sharp and intuitive driving the Z has made even driving to work far more rewarding and involving.

And for anyone who really wants to wring out their Z, I'd recommend a track day. I've just come back from a Spa trackday (see separate thread) and it's done wonders for my understanding of the car. Car and driver progress down the road more as a cohesive pairing now, rather than as a powerful demanding beast with a nevously-grinning idiot hanging on and hoping!

So sad to see what was obviously a lovely car trashed like this. One down; I wonder how many more there are left in the UK? You can go weeks without seeing one. Come to think of it, I haven't noticed another one since I bought mine in June - and normally for weeks after you've bought a new car the whole world and his dog seems to own one!

Commiserations to Paul C. I agree with his girlfriend - perhaps it would have been better not to have known...

  • 1 month later...

part of paul c car lives on with the 99 spec bumper of his car that's getting fitted to mine soon
