Ok the car is Squealing on start up.... and its doing my head in lol...

Is this down to warn or loose belts?

Bear in mind that the car was sat for a year before i got it, so if its the belts then i best get them replaced lol..

help and advise is always greatly received..

Yeah, loose fan belt probably, does it stop the squealing after a short time? mine is doing it at the moment, not all the time, but if a bit wet from condensation. I would get it checked though bud, I am getting mine looked at when I have some money to do it.....lol.

It's more than likely to be one of the auxiliary belts, they don't cost much and are reasonably easy to replace.

I replaced mine when I did the cambelt, even then the alternator belt squealed until I adjusted it properly...

It is annoying 'tho - I'll give you that

Yeah mine is exactly the same. will probably just need a tighten, but like i say get it checked when you can.

With engine OFF..... feel the belts and see if you can hold it either side of the belt and twist it 90 degrees....

Look at the belt and see if all the ribs look okay..... if the rubber seems perished or ribs are missing....Replace it......

If the belt feels loose and floppy then it needs adjusting......

Loosen off the locking nut a little and then slowly tension the adjusting bolt.... There is a bolt that adjusts and a nut that locks it in place....

Easy enough to do if you have a little technical experience.... Don't forget to do up locking nut afterwards and don't over tighten belt..... Do it in small adjustments till slipping stops.....

I bet Jeff has a write up somewhere.......lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

this problem can be compounded by the viscous not breaking free on start-up..iff your viscous is faulty and stays locked up when cold then thats a lot of weight that has a job keeping up with the crank speed for the 1st few seconds hence the belt slipping and screeching..
