My car has developed a revving issue recently which is getting worse. As I'm slowing down (under 30mph) the engine starts revving between 600 & 1k revs & then settles back down again as the car is coming to a stop or speeds up. The base idle does change slightly aswel when the car is in park, between 600 & 750. Its an auto na. Any ideas what it could be?

Hey... how much and how long ago did you do any maintenance on it?

it sounds like a hunting issue and could be down to lots of thing or a combination or things..

to start with see if you can put it on conzult or ECUtalk or get the error codes (if any)...

I'd check and clean all electrical connectors in the engine bay, common culprit is the ecu temp sender unit, the one on the left of the top water pipe with two prongs).... connectors (CAS, injectors, coils PTU, TPS..ect) , check tps voltage, air filter and MAF, plugs.

a proper boost/vac test is also a good thing to check, vac leaks can cause all sort of running issues.

this is a good guide on erratic idle...

Thanks mate! Will have a look through all that. There has been a lot of engine work done recently, plenum pull, water by pass, cambelt change etc. she's running better than ever though even with this issue. Znut has said he will have a look at it for me after his hols but thought I'd make a head start on a solution.
