This was a really good day, nice to be part of Bobs team, and was also nice to have Mikey there aswell,

Not a bad result in the end 3rd over all, with some great action on the day, bob was pushing hard in the final session, which looked great from track side,

Nice to see bob and James finish the day all in one piece

That really is the important thing, fun was had and no one hurt themselves or the cars.

what a great day, I'm still shattered today! Very happy to have an incident free day, and to just concentrate on driving, now I can start focusing on developing the car, sorting tire pressures out, suspension settings etc rather than just doing what's needed to just turn up at the next event...

will post a few pics as they come up, didn't get any footage as I'd forgotten my gopro, and though Bob lent me his I was always strapped in before remembering to turn it on.

It's been said already but we had a very good day at Brands and it was good to finish the season on a high. Like everyone else I was pushing my hardest and like everyone else I came off the black stuff a few times but it was fun!! For myself I was pretty good up from Clearways all the way up to Druids and was fastest of the RWD cars along the pit straight. But having to use third around Druids wasn't ideal and it went downhill from there (no pun intended) all the way back to clearways where I was almost the slowest of all the club challengers lol. So we live and we learn and I have learned a lot from this years involvement with Time Attack. One thing I've learned is how incredibly quick these guys are and how we needed to be in amongst them to learn what indeed was possible even with our 20 year old cars. I also learned how expensive it is and how hard I've had to work just to keep my head above water. Most important of all is the team with every individual being as necessary as the next one. So my thanks go out to Eurospec who kept my car going through thick and thin. And if they had charged me their normal rates I'd have been bankrupt long before the end of the season!! And of course Mr Slick Pete himself who has always been on hand to help where needed but of course he prefers to be in the hot seat as team manager and that's precisely where he will remain for the foreseeable future :) thanks also to Paul who is a real asset to the team and I'm hoping wants to join us next year in testing and whatever we choose to compete in. Mikey Bean helped us at Brands and he might want to come along and play next year too as clearly Pete isn't up to much in the way of physical :)

A lot of thanks and respect to James too. Pushes his car to the limit and often beyond yet simply dusts himself and his car off then goes again. But how else are we to learn to go quick and how else are we going to find the limits of our cars? There's no book about racing zeds (at least not one written by anyone that's actually done it) so we've gotta go out there and work it out for ourselves. I've no doubt in my mind that sometime next year we're going to see a couple of very fast zeds out there driven by a couple of guys who just want to go fast :)

For myself I managed to bag three podiums over the series but while it seemed that perhaps Donington and Brands were better suited to our cars I think it more likely that we just got faster.

Now it's time to start afresh and build the ultimate fast zed for the track. No doubt James might have something to say about that :) In the meantime here's a little video from Brands final session. First few seconds is a hot lap coming into clearways where a puff of smoke from Umars rear wheels don't tell the full story. We get so used to overtaking on the left even when there's no room we still aim for it. Luckily my instincts took over and I swept by on the right. I love that corner!!

Till next year .................

I would like to see the club help out more for you guys and I know we have only started to help out this year on the forum side but over the Winter we will try to organise more help for next season. Well done to all involved and look forward to more 300zx racing.

We were talking about this at the weekend there seems to be only a handful of people that are really into the Motorsport/track day side of things,

I'm glad I could of helped out and was nice to get a feel of the event, next year I'd like to help out again in which ever way possible, and also over the winter months build my own track ready zed :)

A great idea mate - and as Gary says, we must try and promote more motorsport events as a club in future...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

i too would like to help as much as possible in the future in any way i can, was such a good feeling being there :)

Nice one Mikey - I heard how valued your pit-lane contribution was and would be only too pleased to see you back there helping out in future mate!!!

nice video Bob, first proper in-car I've seen of yours, shame I didn't record mine so we could compare on the same circuit! The little traffic jam at the start of your vid was me getting all out of shape and nearly spinning...

PS roll your arches!

Fantastic photos mate. Any track days etc planned in the off season?

James has had enough offs in the season to see him thru the rest of the year. Every event is "off season" for him:whistling:

He has his hands full getting the car Z32 shaped again:lol:

Most people would have given up by now.

Fortunately James doesnt come under the heading of "most people":thumbup1:

Im sure he has some demon new tweaks planned for next year.

the pics are brilliant but they dont really convey the excitement of the day

You have to be there for that.

That's something I fully intend to do Pete, I was going to this season but so many things got in the way. I managed to get out to a few meets, the cars been sat there for 3 weeks getting dusty, which isn't like me.

I can't believe it took me so long to go to an event, I think more members should come along next year and get a real feel for it, you'll never look back lol

I was like you though z32bolt always something comes up when you plan to go, pain in the arse lol

I can't wait for next season now,

I haven't had the desire or cash to fiddle with or drive my car much recently. I've been focusing on the fishing, it's a lot cheaper and more relaxing lol.
