Hi from a Capri nut who is just about to become a Fairlady nut

Hi All

After owning my Ford Capri since 1984 (2.8i), I have decided to buy another of my dream cars and at the same time 'modernise' a bit. So this afternoon I am off to see a 1989 TT LWB Fairlady auto. I am informed by the present owner who I work with, that they bought it over from Japan and are the only owners since then. They drove it for a few years but for the last year it has been sat in their garage. THe wheels & Tyres alone were approx. £800+ and the car is modified (slightly). Showroom condition except it doesn't start at present (not just flat battery?). Will check it out this afternoon and get some photos. The 'special' price to me as I will look after it is £1000 (Bargain) - well I hope

Sold it on about 5 years ago, to get the fairlady. The two are like night and day. Id love another capri one day, but I wouldn't have one at the expense of the zed. Good luck buddy you may find you've got to push it a lot harder to achieve the same feeling as its so much more solid in the way it handles. Genuinely fantastic car the z32 is.

Ha yeah I blew my Capri engine up twice and ate a gearbox. It NEVER came home on a tow truck though, even on two cylinders I got it home lol.

Ive had a few Capri's 3.0s, a black 2.8i with Kent fast road cam but not a patch on the 2.8 turbo technics one I had last. Had all the handling stuff on it from capri sport so went fast and round corners too, loved it and still miss it even though the zed is faster.

I'll start with some Capri photos - just spent 2 years working on the 2.8i (after 12 years in storage). The JPS was my first Capri. Last one is rear light mod I worked on.

Welcome to the club!

Well she does seems to have ha dad bit of a life hey... Have you bought it? What exhaust is that?!...

very nice car mate love the red interior and i see you got yourself a rare navan auto shifter aswell

Showroom condition except it doesn't start at present

Great example there of never trust an owner describing their car to you, judging by the pics you posted the car is far from that condition - unless by showroom condition they meant a showroom in Chernobyl.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I agree Sir Charles (that was a bit of a dissappointment - explained the bargain price)

I'm afraid I can't answer the questions yet (like which exhaust / door cards etc.). Apart from a 20 minute chat with the owner and a few photos, is was mainly the wife saying buy it (she did drive my UAE spec 3000GT TT 4WD 4WS).

What I know is that it has had a few mods, 6 speakers and sub in boot, slight increase in boost, all hoses replaced with Samco hoses. It was laid up a year ago after it started running rough one day, perfect the next, then rough again. But before that it was perfect.

Only paperwork I have at present is receipt for wheels and a printout from a rolling road.

Might have to drop Jeff a line as I can see I will need a few spares. Thanks again to everyone for the warm welcome.

And if you do want 99 spec I've got a genuine set that I would sell.

The Father of the guy I purchased the car mine from. And 4 doors up is a white one. I think Wantage is a breeding ground for them
