although it still drives the tubbies have gone.

the detting i had has turned out to be turbo stalling out and has what seems to be a massive lack of power under boost.

so now its a big decision time,

1 repair

2 sell as is

3 break it

its gonna be a while before i could repair as ive had to have alot of time of this year due to bad health.

Unfortunate position and I am sorry to hear this. The sad fact is that you would get more money in your pocket breaking it than you would selling as is, which rules out the selling as is, and gives you the break or repair options. I don't envy your current position buddy. Good luck with whatever you decide though.

You running standard turbo's?

I have a spare set you can have to get rebuilt if it helps?

They are just sitting in garage doing nothing..... yours if you need them....

I know about having bad health problems, been in and out of hospital for last 10 years....

Sorry to hear the news Dave, I think persevere with it as I know how much time you've spent on the car and would a shame to break or sell.

Yeah, fix it. Could you get a few of us round to try and sort it. Ill happily drive down to try and help where I can

jeff i will ring you tommorow if your available please.

the engine is trying to boost but its like a really bad stutter and thats all it will do. reversed it onto my driveway and had smoke coming out of exhaust. give it some revs(not high revs) and it clears stright up again.

thankyou russ thats a very nice offer.

im gonna try speak to jeff in the morning and see if he confirms its the turbos first and if it is i will try to find some prices for repairing a set because last i remembered its almost as much as buying a new set.

When I had a bust MAF/air filter, mine would start to boost then stutter like I was hitting a wall

Unless disconnected or open circuit a faulty maf will not show any fault codes, I am in tomorrow by the way, busy changing a clutch on a 350z!!

Mine was happening mainly when it had been raining, think it was getting wet but I wasn't getting any error codes either as jeff said.

I might have one somewhere but I think it's an NA one

You can pop the maf connection off and reset the ecu, by unplugging the battery for half hour or so. It should then purr like a kitten upto 3k. Try some tests first, can't scrap a zed for a dirty connection.

I had this with the blitz air filter, no under shield and some rain...... water cools the wire in the MAF and causes incorrect readings to the ecu, messing up fuel air ratio..... runs like crap and stalls.... horrible....

mikey bean come round this morning with a maf to try out to help rule that out.

also took balance bar off and theres oil in plenum both sides but none in the intake pipes before the throttle bodies.

So am gonna order some pcv valves today and see if that helps any.

Hopefully it may not be the tubs as when started up and left to get upto temp there is no rattles or smoke from the exhausts.

hope you save her mate. way too many zeds get broken. i know it feels good to vulture for parts when one genuinely is nackered, but sounds to me like theres some investigating to do here before we head down the doom and gloom route!

i thought i'd blown rotor tips on my RX7 once, car was running like a tractor, billowing black smoke at all revs. turns out a vac hose had popped off the MAP sensor and was just resting on the nipple. Pushed it back on, everything returned to normal instantly.

have faith!

have had a good talk with jeff this morning and there may be hope yet as he suggests the symptoms are leaning more towards an electrical issue than a mechanical one which is a huge relief.

possible problems to start with are

maf

tps

cas

adjust tickover

Am to do these jobs one at a time to try eliminate them out.

well huge thanks for the guidance and help from both jeff(zedworld) and mikey bean.

She LIVES once more.

It appears a couple of things had decided to have a mind of there own and not work correctly.

So as jeff had explained to me the goings on with the electrical issues and how they corrupt readings for other parts i firstly started with changing the maf which improved the hesitation but didnt eliminate it all.

so next i rechecked all the connections and adjusted the tickover.

next was to do the timing. It was at 22° btdc on the gun and around 24btdc on the consult. So i adjusted it to 15° ont the pulley and this made it very very laggy on boost.

Came back retimed it to 20°btdc on the pulley and it runs really well, full 1bar of boost no problems and no hesitation at all.

So a big thanks to all for your comments and help.

That's great news..... Really glad you got this sorted....... and again Jeff and Mikey come through with some great help........

This is why getting someone with Z experience is so vital for us and there are a few knowledgeable and very helpful people on here....

Can't wait to see your Z at a meet sometime dave.....
