But he is saying this price is way to much, is it??? I am no expert but would I do this job for £150 don't think so,but anyhow see pictures attached dent is right hand side of rear window between spoiler and window about 50mm diameter.

I saw your car where ever you took it last....if it was the last place you took it to.

My friend, my dad owned a body centre before retirement and I grew up panel beating and spraying, and if you want that done properly then it is s full rear hatch re-spray. I left the trade in 1998 and back then it was roughly £150 per panel; so I would say that is a good price. They might back mask off the spoiler to save painting it. Very straightforward.

Just claim on his insurance.

Paul

I agree, you will probably only have to mention his insurance, and he will stump up the £150.00

usually is about £150 per panel depending on paint and so forth, done properly then that is about right

When did you see it bud?

Not to sure if he will have any bud:-)

Legal requirement bud, if he hasn't you could take him to the cleaners.

prob not worth taking him to the cleaners, civil matter, will have to fork out for lawyer cost before u can get the 150 plus your cost maybe and its a long procedure. but if he hasnt got insurance and hes smart hell pay the 150. hes prob just haggling you...shouldve said 250-300 first time round and then call back another day and said found a cheaper quote $150. he wouldnt have an issue then.! and you said third time! from the same place?

Hi noz hope you are well, not herd anything from you on the damage to me car?can you just let me know if you intend doing something or not?can't take the car anywhere now because the car is running so bad it's un-drivable ,i will have to have the car transported to somewhere like zedworld now to sort out my issues so it will cost a fortune again, anyhow let me know what your intensions are please if any?thanks, graham

Hi,

Apologies for the delay.

I will need to diagnose the car to determine what's wrong with it. It drove perfectly whilst I road-tested it, was very happy with the results. The mapping session showed nothing was wrong with it at all, apart from lazy O2 sensors.

With regards to the damage, I really cannot fathom what happened there, I have got good bodywork guys over this way, the quotes seemed a bit excessive IMO.

Kind regards,

Noel.

The only reason I mentioned the fact that I have good bodywork guys over this way is that you said the car is running badly and it would cost a fortune, therefore I would be able to diagnose the issues and sort the dent out at the same time. The car was transported to me by a 3rd party, you did say he had shown you pictures, but I haven't seen any to show the damage wasn't caused before it got here.

You also said on the phone to me you would pay £50 of the quote. I then said I would see if I've got anyone near to you that would do it.

With regards to your car running badly now, this was posted by yourself after the drive home:

Well just got back from Noz's from tuning and mapping of my zed,it was running like an old dog:-(,(365bhp) but now wow what a transformation it's a flying machine want stop pulling:-) well done Noz only problem now is stopping the bloody thingproblem now with these new 356D2 brakes that are fitted vibrating under heavy braking, anyhow do you want to guess the power?

I would agree with that, it ran perfectly both on the dyno and afterwards.

And I have full trader's insurance for all customer's cars and my fleet too :)

Sounds like body damage can't be proved either way, workshop, transport, or already like that!

Aside from suggesting a panel template document to be signed on delivery ( as hire and body shop companies use)

Perhaps an amicable settlement of 5O/50.

Don't know what the running issues are now, but clearly you didn't have them when you drove the car home, If Noz is willing to look at it, then let him, good as any on here to sort things out.

Hope you guys find an amicable resolution.

As Steve said let Noz look at it.

if the trader had ignored you or not done anything then you may have had a case, because there is an effort to fix this you may be looked at as the unfavourable one.

for the money involved best to sort this amicably. ive been in this boat before and the garage simply refused to admit liability and it was a main dealer. nothing I could do without strong evidence. key word there is strong..

regards the engine, you posted it was running fine so you would have to get another reputable dealer to prove its something Noel did that has caused the problem now.

Best advice get it back there and let him sort it so both parties are happy..

just my two pennies, hope you dont mind..

The reason i said i was taking the car to zedworld is because i need other work done on my car and jeff could sort out the bad running issue because i think it is something other than what you have done to the car tuning wise, and we could have it painted there because he did all the paint work on my car originally and the prices where quite cheap, this way i know my car was getting a good job and cheaply.

I would agree with that, it ran perfectly both on the dyno and afterwards.

Never said anything other than how well the car was running and your tuning did transform the car, when i rang you to tell you about the problems on the tuning side we did not know what was wrong with the car we where just making assumptions, this is normal with these cars.

my only grief if you like was the body damage the car was damaged after it got delivered and i will get the pictures from phil, and i thought paying something towards the repair cost was amicable.

Just a. Thought but how can noz put a dent in the hatch when all for the work he does is at the front of the car, surly he would have no reason to go anywhere near the boot?

Not trying to play devils advocat here - but it's a bit of a strange place the Noel and/or the transport company to damage

When I picked my car up noticed that Noel had disconnected the light in my boot for some reason, never thought anything of it till I realised that had a fault with the boot mechanism lights kept coming on in cabin and boot there for battery must of been flat at some point over the few days he had it,so yes the engine is not in the boot but this must of been the reason the boot was opened.

If like you guys I know ever part of my car and believe me not only was I there when my car was loaded on the car transporter but so was all my staff that work for me,because its a on going joke in my works how much time it spends on a car transporter going down to zed world, nothing was damaged on this car believe me when it left my works.

Hi Gray, Hi Noz, Can I just throw a suggestion that it could have been something thrown up on the road whilst on the transporter on the way down to Noz?

If another car kicked up a lump of rock?

It looks like nobody is sure what happened. I can see Noz isn't trying to avoid sorting this as per his posts and I know how we all feel about our cars and how Gray feels....

It looks to me like Noz is being reasonable as I would expect him to be knowing his reputation for helping us all out.......

Looks like best solution is speak to Noel directly and work out an amicable solution.....

It's just a shame to see this become a post on a public forum.....

Just my 2 penny, no offence to either party.....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

I would go along with this. Seems a very strange place for Noel to have dented just by opening the boot. I mean if the boot had hit something when Noel opened it, we all know him, and I recon he would have held his hands up right away and said he was sorry and sorted it out. I just can't see how else it would have been caused by Noel. I think the suggestion of another vehicle throwing something up on it's journey to Noz is the most likely. However Noel has been more than reasonable in saying he will help getting it sorted, along with having a look at the bad running when you quite openly stated it was running fine on the way back home.

It was on ongoing joke with my old car too lol

I do go around the rear of all cars I map in order to fit the wideband sensor in the tailpipe, and the boot is opened to feed the cable through to my box of tricks. The boot light was disconnected in this case as well, in order to prevent the battery going flat.

If I had caused that damage myself, or it had occurred whilst I was mapping the car at the dyno, I would indeed have simply paid for it to be sorted (professionally) after informing the owner. Accidents do happen, the main thing is to be prepared and to rectify them, and as has been mentioned, it's happened to this owner twice before with other traders. I have no idea what's happened here, though.

Just waiting on photos.
