Hi all,

For the benefit of people I've bored at the Chester meet's recently (Mandy, Ian and Keith etc!), I thought I'd share a couple of pics of attempt number one of vehicle wrapping :)

I'd say that the ZX is, in theory, a very easy car to wrap as the panes are pretty flat as it's corners and curves which are a b**ch to wrap round. The front bumper and the back were hardest...the rear quarter panels and lower boot area are all one massive panel which really should be done as one piece of wrap but I cheated and did it in smaller sections.

Anyhoo, hope you like! It's still work in progress, there's a few scruffy panels I want to re-do and I also want to tint the windows (wish me luck there!) but it's nice to have a project on the go :)

PS big, big thanks to Lee and Sam for helping with the side skirts :) :) :)

Yeah, very first zed i owned, was silver at that point and certainly threw me into the deep end, first job i ever did on it was change the frigging engine lol, nice to see its still around, although it was quite worse for wear when i first picked it up.

If you did it yourself....I gotta ask....is this your first attempt?

I can get hold of wrap at trade price, so was thinking of having a shot on my Zed. Paintwork is in a state and I don't want to pay for a full respray until I get everything else sorted.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

Sarah you've done a great job. Looks better in the flesh.Cant wait for you to do my zafira roof:thumbup1:.

Yes vods I can remember you swapping that zed with the uk tt off simon(mid wales zx).It was in a sorry state then, but 3months of work(at my unit) and a shed load of steel and wiring its now roadworthy again and everything works:thumbup1:

It was swapped with the knowledge that he was going to use it for the manual box and to strip it, glad it was saved, the engine was strong though, i got it from the outer Hebrides, and the salt water up there hadn't been very good to the old girl thats for sure.

Hi,

I'd suggest going for an 'air release' type of vinyl first as it's a lot easier to work with than the more old fashioned types of vinyl. And make sure you have an airgun...hairdryers aren't quite hot enough to manipulate the vinyl. And just have patience and practice. To be honest if you're a learner you won't notice too much difference in the different manufacture's vinyls so just go for whatever your taste and finances tell you :)

Very nice, i'm going to be doing a diy wrap myself soon. What vinyl did you use and how much - length and cost :)
