Almost a year ago to the day I took my zed out for a late night drive. No real motive other than to enjoy some open road. Pulling away from some traffic lights a little deer runs out in front and I couldn't avoid a hit:

The bumper was beyond repair and I couldn't get the paint needed to match to the car. I was apocalyptically cross and ended up taking the car off the road until this year when I had it re sprayed a different colour.

So I'm on my way back to Norfolk last night and hit another deer! This time it was bigger, I was doing about 50mph and in my work BMW. I was able to swerve and could have missed it, but there was a car coming in the opposite direction and had to stay on my side, glancing the deer.

There's a slight crack and the fog light is gone, but I'm amazed with the lack of damage. Tough car and thankfully I won't have to pay to repair it. Really shows the difference in strength between fibreglass and an oem bumper.

It's weird though. I've been driving since 2001 and until last year had never seen a live deer on a road. Anyone think their numbers are on the increase or something? I'd hate to see someone's zed suffer the same damage as mine.

At this rate there won't be many 'Live ones' left.....lol

Venison anyone??

I do believe road kill is an acceptable diet.....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Oh deer that is awful....let's just hope your luck bucks up soon .

I see what you did there ;-)

I share your pain, there a nightmare. Road kill very much in on the menu, however if you hit it you can't take it, it's illegal. The person behind you though it's all fair game. Nice cut of meat is venison.

Next time you go for a drive Jamieszxtt, get someone to follow an pick up the dinner....lol

Glad you are okay though on a more serious note, as one of these through the windscreen could be lethal.....

I hit a badger and that destroyed the front end of my car, was like hitting a brick wall...... hitting one of these must have resulted in underwear replacement.......

Years ago I hit a badger when driving an Austin Maxi and did no damage to the car at all. Guess I was lucky but not so lucky for Mr Badger lol

Badger is the worst thing you can hit bar a cow. Deer are all gangly and go rolling bouncing off. Badgers are stocky at the wrong height. They tend to jam in under the car ripping your car apart. Don't mess with badgers lol.

Seams to happening a lot these days. Rich had a coming together with one not so long ago.

Yup - that happened to me all right!! £800 for a new xenon headlamp...

Glad your damage does not look to bad mate - and like you, I hit the deer at around 50 as I could not have safely swerved round it. Considering the impact to the front of the car at that speed, it seems we were both lucky the air bags were not deployed!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The deer did seem to just deflect over to the curb when I hit it. I put the anchors on and got out to check the car but couldn't see the deer anywhere. I can't imagine how it could have survived that!

I'm sure it would have been a lot worse had it hit head square on. Airbags would gave definitely gone off in that case. The thought of it flying up and striking the windscreen makes me sick too.

They have a nasty habit of containing to run once dead. There like zombies, you gotta shoot them in the head, well neck. Get a blow to the rear and they just keep going, like a muscle twitch thing.

Apparently that's what daschuands are for, to furry about in the under growth and locate the runners. This is why deer hunting requires rifles and a lot more money and experience than say shooting for pheasant or pigeon.

Black cow, foggy night... Steak and chips for a month, bus to work!

Yummy...... making me hungry.....lol
