Ive finished doing the brake pipes on the front and have started the rears, and pretty soon i want to get the power out of it.

ivbe got 550cc injectors, 10.5x8.5x5.5 intercoolers ( core size), will be order a turbo back exhaust in a couple of weeks and have an hks filter.

Now can anyone tell me the max power standard manual turbos can take, im really hoping to get 500 bhp ( bragging rights mainly :scooter:) or as close as possible.

cheers

youll need more than that to get anywhere near 500fwhp!

Stock turbos can do high figures as turbo noz has proved, but you need alot of supporting mods.

Id add lightened pulleys and flywheel, full 3 inch exhaust, 2.5inch intercooler piping, larger throttle bodies, possibly dual intake, port and polish on the heads to your shopping list

Standard car setup besides air filter and decat .. normally around 380>450 @ flywheel

to what Noz has been doing on some of the cars

getting more power injectors/tubs/pipe work/ exhaust system .. the list goes on

lightened pullies and flywheel wont add any horsepower, and IMHO 3 inch piping from the turbo back is not required, the car is basically 2x 1.5 turbo engines, ive seen 2.5 turbo engines running 500 bhp on 3 inch systems.

2.5 inch intercooler piping i could make myself, its no problem.

Noz pushed 450 bhp on stock auto turbos and injectors, so im hoping with the slightly large turbos and injectors and intercoolers i can get a bit more.

Once the turbos go pop il stick in some t28s but untill then i want to push the standard ones as far as i can

You asked a question you already knew the answer to :p

Yes, yes he did lol. The cost and time of messing about with getting the very max out of the stock turbos would outweigh the costing of some updated units. Have a chat to nix there weren't that many mods to get 430hp that extra 50/70 is expensive.

i dont know the answer to it, i asked if the turbos could reach 500 bhp, and no one has answered :P

as i said noz got 450, but im pretty sure it was the injectors maxing that stopped him going further, i did message him but he hasny got back to me

He is a busy guy I'm sure he will get in touch though. Search around for ashspecz USA company that do loads of r&d for the z32 he has been pulling good solid numbers out of stock turbos with 2.5" inter cooler lines 3" exhaust systems and 740cc injectors. As I said earlier though it would be cheaper to upgrade the turbos, than do all that to get the same figures.

Injectors will never stop me, I can simply increase the fuel pressure & remap the car. There was loads of fuelling available at 456bhp, my set up on the day was maxed. 456bhp & 482lbft means lots of boost from little turbos. I've been too busy to work on my own car, but it's engine breathing, not fuel delivery that is the obstacle to overcome :)

I've only got one PM of yours yet to answer I think.

if you could let me know whats possible mate through pm, and what other small cheap mods i can do to reach the 500 bhp level i would appreciate it :)

( so far inlcuding buying the car my costs are at 570 including paying for MOT) so after buying the exhaust im left with 250 quid which is just enough for the remap and still come in under budget :)

this is going to be the cheapest 500bhp ive ever seen...

tbh i got the car for a bloody bargain, ive seen even autos with blown turbos go for 8-900 quid.

TBH most people would have scrapped the car but i have the room and the skills and equipment to get it roadworthy again.

If i reach 500 bhp i would be over the moon, but tbh even if i grt to 450 i would still be delighted

ive read that thread but again, not what im asking.

I see he had fitted t28s etc but i also bet he errs on the side of caution as he will not want it to go pop and lose lots of cash, i dont have that problem so dont mind noz mapping it and stretching it a bit further

I'm OK with running my own car like this and reporting the results (it's my guinea pig daily, and sees a fair bit of drag strip action as well), but it's different when mapping a customer's car. It's all very well someone saying "push it", but if something goes wrong, guess who gets the blame and bad reputation...

Unless it's a fully-documented no-holds barred push for the stars (and it's clear to everyone in Internet World you have a specific target and need to run 1.5+ bar), I'm not going to be able to map your standard turbo'd car to 500bhp, there aren't enough modifications for it IMO and it's not worth the potential nightmare if something goes wrong. You're going to need to run to the very limit of the turbos, consider race fuel and WI, run twin widebands & aftermarket knock monitoring, monitor IATs, consider EGTs as well. I'm comfortable doing this in my own car, but I can't expect someone else to in theirs, so there needs to be a safety margin involved. Bear in mind I've just mapped a stock engine to ******* safely with zero issues, and have pushed my own stock 2L 3SGTE to 487bhp, I just think this is a bad idea to have these kinds of expectations.

No problem whatsoever with mapping your car when it's ready (been looking forward to it as it's a great project idea), but it's only going to make whatever it makes. Safely :thumbup1:

It's also worth bearing in mind that the mapping work that has gone into my own dual intake single MAF set up running 1.4-1.5 bar daily on stock turbos for 18 months is a great deal more than £250. Most likely 10 times that. Plus fuel. Plus dyno time. Plus Santa Pod entry. And so on!

^^^ So it's game on, you read it here folks

thanks for the answer noz, that clears it up then. Hopefully you can still get decent power from it :)

Of course il be bringing it to you for mapping, where else would i go !
