Hello all,

I tend to do long rambling posts, so please bear with me!

I've just signed up as I have been thinking about scratching my 300ZX itch from when I first played Gran Turismo all those years ago! I have had some pretty awesome cars and some pretty terrible ones too, so hoping that taking a lot of time with this one will help me out in securing a good un.

I’m planning to change from my current car (big diesel auto) to something abit more involving but still comfortable for the occasionally long journeys to cornwall as I've just got a new job much closer to home and would be planning to use the car as my daily 20mile commute.

So when the time comes I hope to find an unmodified LWB TT to change after getting rid of my current car. Also if anyone is down in Hampshire let me know, would be cool to start seeing more in the flesh! :biggrin:

hiya, thanks for replying, I live on the edge of Winchester renting a house with a garage which can fit a car in, but you can't get out! (why do they design it that way?)

Hi and welcome, I was the same and fell in love with the 300, but they are like a gorgeous girlfriend....... Great but sometimes a right pain in the ass !! Lol

Thanks guys, in all honesty don't think I'll even start my search until next year as there are quite a lot of things which are going to pummel my finances this year (wedding in november!). But it's always good to get as much prep in as I did have a couple of disasters rushing into buying previous cars. Just hope I don't get jacked by my current car, it's got quite a lot of systems so "more to go wrong" as they say.

Scubanesh, nothing can be more annoying than my MG ZT (it was a V6 so no HGF trouble - inbeforetheusualposts! hehe) but chocolate cluches and thermostats get on your wick after a while. Though if anyone gets a chance to drive one they are surprisingly good steer for such a large car so do try one, just don't ever own one... ever...!

Will spend some time reading on here before asking questions :) Would be good if anyone is local to me fancy's going to the pub/drive one day so I can get some first hand experience.

Fortunately there are plenty of us in that area, Handfull in Bournemouth and another few more scattered here there and everywhere dorset and hants. If you want to pop along to Simply Japanese on the 4th of august there are a fair few members going along, this will allow you to see some examples and meet some members, plus its very local to you. Tips for buying are buy the best one you can afford you will save money very quickly cheap examples are cheap for a reason, trust me. Budget around 3.5k to buy a good example, and if you can find another thousand to sit in the bank for the first 12 months this should cover the bulk of maintaince that may crop up. Club cars are the best bet as they have generally been well looked after and had money spent on maintenance. Good luck.

That meet sounds like a great idea. I'm hoping I can get 7 for my car when I sell it, then 5 for the ZX and rest put aside for potential bills. My current car is a twin turbo so my first question would be around turbo care. Right now I have to let them cool properly, so if I come home like a scud missile then I give it 5 mins to let the oil cool the turbo's, is that the same for these TT's too?

Welcome Tommo - and good luck in your search for a 300zx mate!! And yes; always wise/essential to leave the engine running to preserve the turbos after a good blast....:wink:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks Richard, it will be an easy thing to do the turbo care bit. My daily is also a twin turbo so have to wait 30secs after gentle driving or 5 mins after blasting around. Though I've gotten so bad about it I will hide in a side road before pulling into a petrol station... makes me look like a right shady character :( Oh well as least I won't have any turbo bills :) Gotten a bunch of q's to ask people when I come along to simple japanese in over a month's time. Trying to get a friend with an Impreza to come down so I don't have to use my daily :thumbup1:

Well hello all, just got a mail saying I haven't done anything for about a year here. Alot has happened, unfortunately I never got my 300ZX, due to "budgetory pressures" (basically it turns out the Jag was worth about 20p), and with buying a house I just couldn't get a decent ZX in budget. I have managed to keep it Nissan though and I've just taken delivery of this beauty;
