Anyone have any idea how much a garage would charge to redo the brake lines on a zed ?

They all pretty much need to be done, and after spending the past couple of weeks on my back welding it, ive kinda lost my mojo :(

if its not too horrendous il pay a garge to do it, if it is then i guess il be on my back for another week :( ( sound like a cheap hooker ! lol)

200 quid ish is kinda what i was hoping for, just worried il take it somewher who will quote me that, then when they start and realise how much of a CNUT the job is decide to double it

i cant take it to a garage just to see it, the pipes have burst so no braking, and dont want to hire a trailer for the day just to take it round garages for a quote.

ime sure the diff needs to be dropped for getting the back lines in:confused1:

Not a bad job, much easier on a ramp of course, done many of them over the years and remember the diff needs removing.

Thanks Jeff.....

Yikes indeed - to do all that work, not to mention fabricate the new pipes from nice (non-rusting) copper will cost a bit more than £200 guys!! IIRC - and I had the rear ones fully replaced on my old red ZX - it will run into more like £500-£600...... And that's if the person doing it knows what they are doing... Any non-Z enlightnened garage will end up charging you more as it will take them days.....

You have been warned!!

Richard:ninja:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Have heard of quotes of over £400 but thats probably garages trying to avoid the work. Saying that £200 would be cheap for the work involved in doing them all. Just a tip if you are going to do them yourself they can be done without taking the diff out but you need to drop the subframe a bit, you do need to remove the zorsts and disconnect the shockers though then its 4 nuts to drop the frame. Still awkward to do though

I'd do it yourself it's easy enough to do,

I did all mine on my car took a few hours, and cost around £40 for pipes and connectors, although I already have flaring tool ect

You will be looking at around £500 I'd of thought to do them all

ive already got the tools, i just need some 3/16 pipe and the connectors, but as it explained i had kinda lost my mojo after being under the car with rust falling on my for days on end and was hoping i could get it done without getting raped !

if i had a 2 post lift i wouldnt hesitate, but im doing it with the car on axle stands.

Guess il get cracking at the weekend then :(

:) try crawling about under one for months on end, get yir finger out man and get them done. And the bonus will be you will know they have been done right.
