Its come to my attention over time thats parts for our cars are hard source and expensive. Availability of quality kit is poor from within the uk and oem parts are dropping off the availability list like flys. Being an entusiast club part of our responsibility is to ensure the marque is represented and preserved. A serious prerequiset to this is availability of parts. Most other cars have many pattern parts available, and aftermarket stuff, we simply dont. I do not wish to pick on anyone but compare our z part retailers to those in the us or oz, zcentre is tiny, its not even affilated with the owners club! Not to mrntion the price. Getting onto the twinz range, that cannot be sorted.

It's a sad state that the 3rd? Biggest ownership worldwide cannot produce a sustainable and progress range of parts, that we have to make international orders to a country on the otherside of the world to get things of decent quality, and price. I applaud companies like sfs for making good parts for us, but I think its high time we started brain storming a better way that the current reliance on the us.

So how do we move forward? How do we push the z32 out of this stagnent position of poor parts, high prices and poor availability. Theres enough.of us at the end of the day. How do we move the club away from the screen and into an owners club, are we the offical uk zxclub? Is there even one? I know this sounds like a rant but I want to still own my z in 20 years time

Its high time the z comunity raised its profile.

Spot on Dave:thumbup1:

Not only is it spot on its a very easy change. Has the club ever approached Nissan and asked what the situation would be in allowing us to become their official uk z32 club, I know its not overly in there interest but as a marketing point it may well be. having access to ourselves and close relationship will allow them better ease to do things such as, if and when they decide to do a 50 years of fairlady (as I said previously they realised a 40th anniversary 370) what better way to launch anew model or show off their achievement then to drag x amount of each of these previous sports cars and their cult following to one location.

67% approx of the Z32 owners being subscribed members is exceptional bearing in mind a few of the member have more than one Z32

I would imagine that must be one of the best % wise in the country

If it was as simple as that steve it would be, but there a fair few members on here with no z32 at all, so you cannot count them, also we haven't had clarification of how many z32s there are exactly in the uk at present. Even if 80% of z32 owners were registered with the club id still want more, that's the mindset I'm currently in, (impossible I know) shooting for the stars is the only ambition to have, im not going to shoot low or simple be content with it as it is, I aim to improve the situation constantly. Its a real shame I didn't manage to collor you at japfest last year and have a really good discussion about the clubs and their future.

I personally don't have an issue with the pricing structure. What you have provided there though is a great set of figures, 672 paying members, honestly when compared to the amount of zeds in the uk presently that's crap, I would say the vast majority of z32 owners are not only not members, but not aware or possibly interested in our existence, this is one of the key things that must change, it also raises its own questions, why arn't we reaching these people? I've also seen that we gain members that then don't hang around, why?

I would be extremely surprised, if there are more rx7's in the uk, than 300zx's, I assume that's a global club? but even so that's a massive number in comparison.

Maybe they do hang about but hide in the shadows, i know personally that i can't really comment on the running of a zed or modifications etc because im uneducated in that department but i love reading and learning about them but still wouldn't comment for the sake of making myself look like a complete tit!

I can't really fault members on here for being unfriendly cos you lot are the most nicest guys n gals i've come across on a forum (with a few exceptions lol) but i have been here since 2009 but i do feel out of place at times, i stick around cos im a nosey cow and i do love zeds and my dream is to one day own a black lwb tt again!!

i pay my subs and havent got a zed

but what i cant understand is how it can be more of a club just by changing its name, its still going to be the same people as before, what changes can be made to make it more of a club than it is now, and with people so far apart how can we be all part of the same club without a forum?

this forum is what makes the club is it not?

also how has this got from parts available for zeds to what it should be a club or a forum?

Image is everything. Just look at Little Chef.

Im more interested in the parts though to help all all out.

This is not a democracy in practice.

not a critism merely a statement of fact, not pointed at anyone in particular, merely saying we cannot rely on the number of subscribed members as a golden guide as to how many zed owners we have reached.

but what i cant understand is how it can be more of a club just by changing its name, its still going to be the same people as before, what changes can be made to make it more of a club than it is now, and with people so far apart how can we be all part of the same club without a forum?

Changing the name is merely a first step, a very important step in an image change, the major thing we need to encourage is activity of the club in real life, better attendance to meets more high profile presence at shows.

this forum is what makes the club is it not?

Currently for many it is the beginning and end of the club, club activity doesn't extend beyond this forum, that isn't how to have a car club, that's how to have a website. I love the forum thats why im on here so often, but im on here aswel because im passionate about the z32 want to learn. as I say the forum should not be the be all and end all.

also how has this got from parts available for zeds to what it should be a club or a forum?

Obviously that's quite a complex question, and the thread has become quite long and in depth with many opinions and views, basically it seems what we think is the reason for expensive parts and poor aftermarket choice from within the uk, is the strength of the club and the number of active members. Its simply supply and demand, if the profile of the car is taken more seriously, the club increased in numbers and profile, manufacture's will be more interested in the z32 will produce more parts or import them in a more favourable way for us. Basically if we make the club bigger and stronger we can expect better access to parts at better prices, not to mention a better value of the cars and more sustainable future for the z32. The name change is a first step increasing awareness and profile, along with becoming an official affiliated and most importantly active club. I really hope that answers your questions, and I hope your on board now I've explained

Apart from being told by a friend i bet nearly all of the members here found this place via the internet and i bet at least 95% typed the word "forum" into the search engine...We must also not forget we have a hell of a lot of overseas vistitors passing through and just by distance a forum based club is there only viable stopping point.Ime confused that people are confused whether this is a club or not..and those who dont know get to know as soon as they log in and start reading the pages:confused: Why are we trying to invent something thats already here...

Not so much to reinvent the wheel, more to make sure its as healthy as it can be. Im not sure about the 95% of people but I must be in the 5% I typed in 300zx owners club, I joined the us club first because of this, it was sometime before I found the uk owners club. I guess I just didn't look, I found zcentre before this place and spent well over the odds. If I had found this website first, I would have saved myself a great deal of time and money, but I didn't.

Its a shame as this year although worked butt off to get a fair number of Zs to go to Japfest will not be going myself as would have loved to talk car clubs with you

One of the reasons is waiting for the op on the other knee to come through as find it awkward to get in and out of the Z and am in the throws of getting it up for sale as haven't been able to have driven it properly since Japfest 2012 and other is attending 3 day Donnington Historic the week before as managed to cadge a ride up there and back

Its the perception Alan! existing members understand the club status, but its the potential new ones we need......... to take the club forward.

A mate of mine asked if there was a club for the type of car I have and I said yeah and he asked me what it was called, and I said its called that, and pointed to the 300zx.co.uk sticker in my quarter lights his reply was that doesnt sound like a car club but more then a website!!!

Is that noy byest as google learns to search through your cookies for relivence? Also type in 300zxclub see what you get.

For me it's not about changing anything to do with the forum, but promoting the marque & the club outside the confines of the internet. Regular meets, involvement with other clubs (eg. 300zx vs Supra), official 300zx.co.uk presence at shows & track days etc. Making the Zed in the UK a force to be reckoned with, as it is in other territories, not a 500 quid eBay snotter.... We're responsible for how the Zed is perceived by others. As I've said before, the general public adore the car. The reason why we get no parts support is because all the cool kids bought Supras & Skylines since Zeds are unreliable dogs. The reason why this thread keeps bouncing from point to point and topic to topic is because everything is related and intertwined. I've been in the Jap car scene for a long time, the Z32 is not kindly looked upon. I think that could change but for that to happen we need to take it to the masses.

The forum itself is brilliant, nothing needs to change there IMO.

Please ignore any spelling mistakes, on my phone.

exactly mate we need more members to come to shows meets and races.

I don't know if anyone's already mentioned this or if it already happens but a big club meet once a year would be good. Not at JAE or any other shows but a meet just for this club. I was a member of the delorean owners club and they'd all meet one weekend a year, stay in a hotel, go for a drive, have a detailing day where they try out new cleaning products, have a guest speaker on in the evening. I met up with them one year on the horse shoe pass in Wales and there were over 20 deloreans in convoy, very impressive! That would raise the profile of the club.

That sounds good if we could get members to attend.

We can all have a club discussion in person at JAE about all this so if you are passionate about the club get yourself down there. But we have picked up on some good points

I will be there this year. Might not have the car how I want it but ill make sure she makes it down there

I think its to hard to raise the profile, shit sticks no matter how hard you try and we will always be known as an old wobbly map wagon that isnt as quick as the others and if they are they will blow up in a week.

When I went to pick up my 330d from a dealer he asked what other car I had, I told him and his responds was hasn't it blown up yet you must be on your 3rd engine by now, lol

There are far to many dogs out there now to try and raise the prestiege of the car. Every car will do this and the supra is now starting t do this,

I must admit even to some of the events I've turned up to there has been a lot of dogs on show, its sad to look at some of the stands then just see people walk past ours.

Until all the shitters rust and die we have no hope imo

110%

I know it must be disheartening for the REOs to spend time & effort only for no one to turn up. Members themselves have to want to get involved. I just think that with more official 300zx.co.uk events, people are more likely to get off the net for half a day.

This is the hardest bit dragging people off the damn internet and outside to meets and shows, look back and see my post earlier about reo organised meets, that really needs looking at and infact this show attendance is really separate topic in itself. I'm quickly starting to see that this is going to be a long haul aim, and that proactivity and persistence is going to have to remain high for those that do want progression. I'm also starting to think that, contrary to what I thought before, there isn't going to be a mass of people who want to help. When you can see how many people have viewed this thread in comparison to how many have made any contribution its shocking, I can only assume that those who haven't commented either cant be bothered or are perfectly happy with the current z32 scene, a real shame. Even if you are happy with it, everything can be better. Although many points have been raised by those who have contributed I wonder how many if any of these things will change. :(
