Its come to my attention over time thats parts for our cars are hard source and expensive. Availability of quality kit is poor from within the uk and oem parts are dropping off the availability list like flys. Being an entusiast club part of our responsibility is to ensure the marque is represented and preserved. A serious prerequiset to this is availability of parts. Most other cars have many pattern parts available, and aftermarket stuff, we simply dont. I do not wish to pick on anyone but compare our z part retailers to those in the us or oz, zcentre is tiny, its not even affilated with the owners club! Not to mrntion the price. Getting onto the twinz range, that cannot be sorted.

It's a sad state that the 3rd? Biggest ownership worldwide cannot produce a sustainable and progress range of parts, that we have to make international orders to a country on the otherside of the world to get things of decent quality, and price. I applaud companies like sfs for making good parts for us, but I think its high time we started brain storming a better way that the current reliance on the us.

So how do we move forward? How do we push the z32 out of this stagnent position of poor parts, high prices and poor availability. Theres enough.of us at the end of the day. How do we move the club away from the screen and into an owners club, are we the offical uk zxclub? Is there even one? I know this sounds like a rant but I want to still own my z in 20 years time

Its high time the z comunity raised its profile.

Well yes, that's why it was simply an example, of the interest and trader numbers other clubs have. Everything I've done so far has been as you say, " parts overseas that we cant get " hence the reason I got in touch with ams as they haven't got a uk foot hold and have got great parts. I must admit I have also contacted one Uk based company as they provide some parts that cannot be sourced here elsewhere, and they may well be a great addition to the forum. Its becoming increasingly difficult to keep on topic, as theres so much floating in the air, but I will endeavour to try and build better relations with us suppliers and increase active members. Sorry if I didn't explain myself very well.

Personally I really don't care what others think of modded Zeds I am happy with mine the way I made it and it certainly gets some attention when i drive it around - which was suprsiing ly lacking before I modded it!!

I missed the point is yours one of the poorly fitted fibreglass parts that i spoke about? Have you seen my zeds and the amount of mods i have? Im not against it by any far stretch.

Well there is a lot of fibreglass (or is that polyrurethane these days?)

Sorry I just qouted the first post I grabbed over the 'to or not to be' modded slant of the thread regardless of context

There seemed to be a lot of anti-mod sentiment going on and that is anyones entitled opinion - I just wanted to say I was happy with the effect the bits of plastic had when I stuck them on my car..... hopefully not 'badly fitted' though

Great thread, but please don't get involved with AMS. They make cheap copies of things and are a serious concern for those few genuine innovators for the 300zx platform, eg Ash, BDE, SPL, SpecialtyZ

agreed no ams rubbish

There is a big difference between fibreglass and poly urethane :) about triple the price for starters as poly urethane bends and flexes like the standard bumper does whereas fibreglass cracks. We could do with some poly urethane parts being sold over here :D add that to the list

Would it not be an idea to get friendly with someone in the shipping industry? If cost of items arriving was lower then the price of items from across the water wouldn't be as big a concern......

I stumbled across a mustang forum that had a section on import/export. (it was a uk forum)

Just a thought :)

Ok, so maybe I should be contacting them? Ive seen some great stuff coming from ashspec!. Obviously theres eithical points but are there parts any worse than say japspeed?

Agreed, thats makes sense to me.

What brands are missing over here that ud like to see guys?

- Convince Z1 and CZP to have a UK distribution centre! (Although by doing that, Zcentre would probably fold)

- TwinZ design

- Volk racing/Rays eng.

Other than our existing traders, that pretty much exhausts the companies that I would or have purchased from.

Hehe, I wondered when the ams situation would pop up!

I've not seen any direct comparison between the 2 so I'd have no idea. Although ashspec are more Z specific so offer a wider range of products I think? The are also a renounably difficult company to contact from past experiences.

Z1 and CZP sell just about every aftermarket product that's worth buying so if an arrangement could be made with them... Some form of shipping agreement... I have no idea what!

I think he was talking about comparing AMS to Japspeed. There is no comparison between Ashspec and Japspeed totally different levels of quality.

Been reading this thread and thinking its a great idea, as far as involvement then I'm as guilty as most I guess :(

But due to lack of funds the zed hasn't been on the road, this should be changing very soon, I did even buy tickets for jae last year but couldn't go :( but have bought and WILL be at japfest and hoping others this yr :)

Just a thought but hear some good things about this guy, would it be worth contacting him ??

Il be on later, as im out the office today, but yes this is right il explain my thought process later.

The renaming or branding of the club to mee seems a good idea.

As Steve says, the current name does sound like a web site rather then a club and when speaking to members face to face they say "did you read what so and so put on the forum" etc etc

I feel we should make this like more of a club then a forum purley because I see it as a club rather then just a forum and many others may feel the same way.

Why not get a poll up and running and let the members decide:thumbup1:

We are a club  many times I have said "Welcome to the club" to newbies we talk on here as a forum and meet up as a club and we are known as 300zx.co.uk The biggest UK 300ZX Club. As for a poll to change our name to have "club" in it that is the duty of the Committee to decide and yes members can put it to the Committee for discussion. This thread will show how we work.

Gary is right - we are officially known as the "300zx.co.uk CLUB" already so what exactly do we need to change? Adding "club" to the web address just makes for more typing, when "300zx.co.uk" says it all.

We do welcome suggestions from our members though; it's you guys that make "the club" so as Gary says, it's one for us committee to ponder over. But our priority is to ensure that this club is does its best for all our members and continues to promote interest in the 300zx (z32); we'll always endeavour to do that anyway, so what's in a name!!

Richard:thumbup1:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I think it's just to have the emphasis on "300zx Owners Club", as opposed to 300zx.co.uk. On those large banners for example.

Exactly that, the website address is immaterial, however look ay the top of this page it meerly reads, 300zx.co.uk, as do the banners posted earlier, no mention of an owners club. Have a look at the way the capri club work, not all of it is workable but they are seriously organised and are an officaly regonised by ford car club.sometimes the club feels a little like a forum, the forum should be a helpfull addition to the club not its focal point.

I really wanted to post more as ive been thinking alot again today but ive just not had time.

To be fair, on the large banners, it says 'The premier UK 300zx owners club'

I do stand corrected there joel, but tax disc holders club stickers etc font have this, also being offical rather than premier has far more credibility.

Official takes you into another realm of legality, premiere, the best, the top are all names that anyone can bandy about without retribution.

Is being "official" a possibility though? What would be the pros & cons?
