  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Subframe bushes on mine are pretty shot, getting a lot of Corner Hop when pushing it, or hitting a pothole.

Ideally I could do with leaving it until next year when I have the new garage built with more space, but that'd rule me out for pretty much the entire show season.

Good luck at getting them fitted Al:thumbup1:

Split the Auto box from the spare engine, as I have a manual in the car, not enough room in the bleedin garage to swing the cat let alone squeeze an engine lift in!, lots of blocks and a good prizing sorted it...heavy bugger though!!

before i went to work after fitting my new engine , its lives :)) just got to fill her up with water and runn her in now:)

Moved her to the front of the drive. She is comming out to play :cool3:

Do you actualy drive it ? :)

Removed my Apex-I cone to give it a clean.....

.....and refitted a universal K&N cone in its place whilst the Apex-I dries out. And I have to say, on taking the ZX out for a little spin in the sunshine, I actually think it performs better with the K&N. I sometimes felt that the car had trouble "breathing" at the higher end of the rev range after I originally fitted the Apex-I - but dismissed it as me being daft. But today it did feel more like it was ready to go. It is a good inch and a half longer than the Apex-I; and a bit wider too - so it definitely has more surface area for the air to enter.....

I reckon the K&N is staying....

Very interesting... I have had a k&n on every car other than this one which has 2 apexis. Might try some big k&n filters, 1% improvement on these cars is 3-5 horsepower isn't it!

I posted years ago on SXOC about the all-conquering & ubiquitous Apexi cone filter being a bit pants on my S13 after fitting a cheapo eBay special. Never bothered with them since, just stuck with the trusty K&N M's filter.

....And today I fitted a rear strut brace for my 3" Sabelt belts to be fixed to.

Cheers Noel - the voice of experience... Thing is, I had an unbranded induction kit on mine before the Apex-I and I seem to remember that performed better also.....!!

Actually Ian, it is going into THE bin tomorrow.... I just got it out of the airing cupboard where it was drying, only to find the mesh has started to rust and flake away!! Utter shite IMO - how are you supposed to clean them? I have always used proper air filter cleaning fluid and then rinsed them in the past - done this with K&N, Cotton Green etc - and they have all been fine. This Apex-I is now no longer suitable to put back on any car..

Me and Emma went out in it. Saw a lot of beautiful Scotland, and it's awesome empty well maintained roads. May have seen full boost in 5th at one point too... :whistling:

I've always stuck to my apexi because of horror stories of K&N's oily filter causing MAF issues, not sure how true this is or whether there are different types of K&N filter and choosing the right one is important? Do you have a link to the one you have fitted Richard?

Well managed to get an hour on the zed today, stripped the front end down mainly to see how they go together before rebuilding it again.

Lots to do going to be a long hard winter to get it ready i think:-).

Nothing today....

.....But as I didn't get on the forum yesterday evening, I did spend yesterday washing and waxing the ZX to top up the paint protection over the winter......

Sadly not Joel - it's a universal one I bought ages and ages ago, but never fitted. It looks like the dry-type of cotton gauze filter though, not oily - I found it in my garage complete with the adaptor plate!!

Changed my spark plugs. tightened up all the engine fuel lines and a quick check on the condition of the Timing belt. Need a test drive now but to wet so will see what the weather is like tomorrow.:)

That is a fair comment there Gary, everyone should be checking those fuel lines atm, they do tend to leak in the cold if your lot careful.

Indeed they do.....

......Not too cold here just yet though; so I'll probably take mine on a little road trip tomorrow......

Yes I could smell petrol from the engine bay so tightened all the clamps up and they all needed tightened so glad I did.:scared:

All SORNd now and I gave the car a wipe down before throwing a dust sheet over it and locking it away for the winter. I know, I know, I need to finish painting the garage floor. Bye bye - until next year! :)

I'm not concerned with the garage floor - but you left the targas off Si......

.....You're going to have a car filled with spiders and the like in a few days.....

Targas went back on it! Was just cleaning the bits under the targas. :)

I leave the windows cracked in it, the garage is BONE dry as it's incorporated into the house, so absolutely no dampness and it's naturally heated by the house, but still nice to have some air in the cabin.

And there was me linking it to your "lost key" post - until I read that they turned up safe and sound...:)

This was shortly after! I just wanted to get the last of the detritus out of the car from France. Still had the maps and an empty bottle of Orangina + my hiking boots in it.
