  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

FINALLY fixed my intermittent drivers power window!

Spent weeks after work probing and testing trying to find what presented itself as a wire break or loose connection (worked when jiggled). Turns out it was, as seems to be the norm, the top left pin had a dry joint on the PCB of the magic black box that controls the windows. One of the Electron Wizards at work dabbed a lump of solder on and Bob's your mothers brother. Fully functioning window.

So, window runners greased, rubbers siliconed, all contacts contact cleanered (the non grease kind, so as not to leave a film that can short between pins) speaker de-grotted, lock mechanism greased, random loose wires from previous owner taped up out of the way and door card back on!

Nice to have somewhere to put my elbow again and to not have to open to door (after removing seatbelt so as not to garrotte myself, hashtagearlyz32problems) to swipe into the work car park!

Just back from MOT Center and it a pass :punk: Just one thing he noticed my clocks are in mph only and they should be mph and km so I need to change that for next mot. Not allowed to take pics but did a sneaky video.

Nice one Gary - not that I'd have thought for a second that your car would ever fail.....

Is an English MOT valid for NI mate.... Not that I'm suggesting you spend £££s in ferry crossings to get it done here - I was just thinking aloud...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yes Rich an English mot is valid in NI as is a NI mot valid in Britain of course. I remember years ago there was a strike here at the mot centers and some motorists took there cars to Scotland to get an mot.

think the one i got came out of a 09 Honda thats just been imported. tbh its just for the jdm factor lol

I've got two original flares from Z's..

Been very tempted to light one just to see what happens but decided to keep them as they are after all getting quite uncommon nowdays in original form.. Unfortunately the bracket that holds it in my passenger footwell has been broken and I doubt I'll find an unbroken one nowdays..

Anyway, probably be my last post until next month as my subscription expires in a few days and Im basically skint lol. Got some big bills to sort out so I'll be back in a month..

See you all at the AGM and hotel if you're going..

Congrats to all the mot passers this week aswell.. Nice to know we're in good shape!

Oh and if anyone's looking for a TT subframe and diff or front knuckles etc give me a buzz as I've got one laying on my driveway..

Unwashed targa vs washed

This proves there must be some differences between the uk mot system and the one used in NI. We don't have any requirements for MPH Or KM. We don't check speedo function either.

Yes Chris it must be a N.I. thing as we have a land border with the south of Ireland who uses KM per hour. Apart from that it should be the same.

Apart from a radiator leak, which the garage that did my MOT mentioned,

I fixed ( hopefully) my passenger targa drain hose.

The hose had come off from where it attaches to a fitting that channels it out & down the body drain!

I know Jeff did a write up on it but let me tell you it is a complete pita to fix!

My targa hose appeared to have shrunk for what reason I have no idea & not sure for how long it had been disconnected.

I had to cut the hose so it reached the body connector, then find a piece of hose suitable to fill the gap!

I'll put a pic up later if it helps anyone with a similar problem.

I believe all UK factory cars read in both now its only cars being imported that dont. If I'm wrong let me know:)

I didn't mean Z specifically. Many cheap and old cars only display MPH.
