  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

76 Corvette Stingray, Next on the list of what to throw all my money at ????

ooh nice, i thought it was but the back end looks tiny compared to the z and had me thinking twice!! how long has it been sitting there? get that classic on the road!!

I did a few jobs around the dash area this morning. One of the chrome dial surround rings had fallen off, presumably due to the heat we've been having, so I had to dig all the way down to the cluster to reseat it (I managed to almost screw it in without using glue and surprisingly it's stuck in pretty solidly now). I also noticed that the stock temp gauge wouldn't rise past half way due to the heel of the needle brushing against its chrome surround so after a bit of very careful filing down (with a screwdriver) it now only just passes freely - although having said this I never use the stock gauge; I always refer to my aftermarket gauge. I swapped over the left-hand pod with a brand new one from ZCentre, because the two locating lugs which fix the hazard switch in place had broken in my old one and the hazard switch was a little loose and often wouldn't engage or disengage the hazards correctly. And finally I swapped in a carbon-fibre-look steering column surround.

I did this -

Zinc painted my rear subframe (which takes WAY longer than you expect!!!)

Then the fuel filler pipe, I've made sure it wont rust anytime soon (like my last one) -

I don't understand why the bracket has a hole in the end, there's nothing to fasten it to -

Drove it......

.....Julia and I took the Z on a little trip into South Wales for the day - Chepstow Castle, followed by Tintern Abbey - about a 240 mile round trip...!!

I'm so pleased Jeff sorted my a/c last month as we certainly needed it on the way home!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Started it up today for the first time in nearly a year. Went up the road and back to clean the discs, sounds alright, hopefully goes to zedworld this week if i can get a day off work.

Tried to fix an intermittent speedo....and made it worse.

Refitted parts of the dash with anti-rattle tape though and everything feels really sold. Still need to do the speedo! I've just driven down to Glastonbury and back in it to see my parents and had a great drive. Noticed the lack of performance in this heat. Well, just a slight reduction. Z1 SMICs are to be ordered at some point!

Go for the 2.5" pipework and smic package from z1 :)

The last 4 days have seen me converting mine to a manual box. What a mission that's been!!

Nigh on 4 hours to get the clutch pedal in cos I didn't want to have to dismantle the dash (took less than 10 minutes once I'd done that, of course...).

6 hours to get the auto bush out of the back of the engine.

A snapped stud in the manifold - downpipe joint took waaaay too long to drill out for my liking.

Ages spent trying to get the gearbox into position and into the pilot bushing.

All this was done on a drive so hardly the best working environment either. :(

But... it's done now!! I have a manual Zed at last!

Huge thanks have to go to Baz who ended up on the other end of the phone more times than enough, and also to Luke from Z Centre who was another constant source of advice throughout - it would have taken a lot longer without you, guys! And a massive, massive thanks to Eggs for sending me a braided clutch line as mine wouldn't arrive in time!! :thumbup1:

Manual... yay...!!!!

Well I have made a replacement section of N/S front Inner sill to replace the rusty piece...... All I need to do now is to weld it on......carefully!

SDC10250.jpg

Oh and I tried to weld up the other piece of floorpan, Solid but looks a mess, a bit of tidying up to do before I am finished.....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Took it out for a spin, t-tops off.

Also drove it at the weekend, 160 miles on my poorly engine and it took it in its stride!!

New one will be here soon.....

This makes me laugh, because I can rennet those issues myself lol.

Removed the prop shaft, those two centre bearing bolts were on tight but moved once heated up. Gota order my one piece prop now.

Finally got around to fixing my sticking rev needle, much needed as well, always stuck at 4k revs thanks to the Indiglow dials i have fitted, just sanded down the under side of the needle and jobs a good un.

i did nothing at all but look at it under its cover like i have done for months, taxed mot,d but sitting waiting for me to use it.no niggles just needs driving !

Took mine out for a drive today after fitting my John Dixon ECU at Lee's yesterday.....f**king hell I never knew an N/A could shift so much

took my seats out and got together all of the spare set of interior panels ,and am taking to our very own MONDO to retrim in lovely leather .

Stripped the interior, fixed driver's electric window, fitted carbon fibre sidemount bucket seat & custom seat mount, fitted Sabelt harness. Tomorrow will fit Greddy Profec B to see if it's any better than my MBC on the Zed (doubtful). At least it will save me having to open the bonnet. Big up to my pit guy Damien for a sterling day's work, who will also be accompanying me to TOTB in about 2 hrs

Yesterday fitted the prototype Turbonoz/Silverline entry model FMIC & 2.5" pipework kit. Shortest pipework I've seen on a Zed, and can still be made shorter. So much more responsive than the generic kits.
