  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Nice to hear its back on the road Al and maybe a long run will help the old girl.:thumbup1:

Not today, yesterday drove to Mark Derbys to drop the car off along with gearbox etc for a manual conversion uprated clutch and one piece prop.

Today I cleaned and painted lots of parts while I was replacing the rear bearing Hub..... Borrowed the press at work to take the centre splined section out of the hub, then cut the remaining bearing piece with an angle grinder to make a groove.

Next was a sharp chisel to split the piece in 2....... It shattered..... yay.....

Then it was press the new hub and splined section back together.....

Swap the dowel from the old hub to the new one and she was ready to be reinstalled.....

I sprayed the all arms, outer rusty looking part of the CV joint, the driveshaft, alloy hub (silver), brake back plate......... and here is the result......

All ready for tomorrows rebuild..........

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Good work Russ. I think I was lucky, I used a mates impact gun to remove the hub nut then unbolted the shaft from the diff and hit it with a rubber mallet it just fell out. That worked on both the old and new back ends.

Took delivery of these today

The arms are excellent quality, bushed, instead of jointed so should ride nice.

What make are the arms Chris??

From cyberspeeds mate, I'm fussy about quality of manufacture, and these impressed me, very well made.

I initially ordered the driftworks ones, IMHO the joints were utter rubbish, they went straight back.

Were they expensive ?? Do you have a recommended retailer?

Thanks Chris

Got a pair of Potenza RE002 fitted to the rear to replace the very slick and not so road-legal RE11. Looks good underneath!

Most of the car has been treated with waxoyl or similar, that's probably what you see. Needs to be redone on fuel tank and some areas.

That's a real clean Zed Jay. Wish / Hopeine is that clean when it goes up on the lift!:scared:

Some argue that buying from Japanese auctions is risky since you don't get to view the car, but the inspection is really thorough. I've still not spotted some of the imperfections they mentioned on my car! The major auction houses also inspect all vehicles on a ramp too, so it puts your mind at ease in regards of corrosion.

Hope so too pal, when do you reckon it'll be on the road? Please don't be like my da when he works on his cars :D

Put the Z back together, but....... Found I need all discs, pads and rear handbrake shoes........ so that is my next saving plan....... lol

Loads of surface rust underneath on arms, front crossmember, rear axle, etc....... so need to strip off loads of parts, media blast them and powder coat......... winter project coming up...........

Today nothing - I was going to take the Zed out, but since I washed and waxed it yesterday (after driving it 300 miles last week) and it's raining here now, I have left it in the garage; nice and shiny...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
