  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

I hate tracks like that in the zed, all the loose stones that flick up underneath and the big holes you have to navigate round and ruts that scrap the exhaust and chassis rails. Not the car for tracks proper roads only lol.

I've been a bit quiet recently, I had a lot on my plate as we closed SAR Operations at Lossiemouth, went a bit wibble but then got better again  since then I have been on the road and now I am sat on SAR standby at Chivenor in Devon. Rather a change of scenery .

However the good news, I managed to clear Lossie, with just enough time to do an interior swap on my parent's drive before heading to, Birmingham, Anglesey, Devon, all in the Zed :) It does GT well even mine, I have been a happy traveler.

Then to top it all off, as well as some belting area recces round the south west  I was invited to take the car on to the abandoned airfield. This time it was proper above board and hasn't incured 3 months in the Falklands As a telling off!

I used a tank of fuel and focused on drifting, the car does it very well, dry and wet, easilly arcing great lengths of runway in third in the dry. I hit 140 very easilly on the (not that long) strip. Flying over it today it looks like someone has been at the spirograph all across the airfield! I spun the car about 3 times but never stalled or came to a stop. I learned or rather consolidated a lot of 1/4 second skips and slides experienced on the road. I am now far more confident, I tried all sorts of stuff, including letting go of the wheel and just letting it do it's thing.

The key point is that the car is set up well enough to do that, well built enough to do that for an extended period with all the gauges sitting central and all of the engine is still where it was before I started.

One wheel bearing is now a bit grumbly... and my tyres went straight from a solid to a gas... and a pilot spun it onto the grass so there is mud on the roof

I will remove the mud, fit my nose panel and radio mask and get some pictures up. But the car has passed it's 2015 rebirth shakedown

Ah your over there now. Lovely part of country. Your geographically a lot closer to me now but your still a good three hours away.

I am planning a visit to Jimmer this year, because I am "near by" to my standards at least.

My year is something like, Wattisham Air Base (Ipswich) May+June, then here again till November, then a 3 monther in the Falklands.

I hope to meet a few new faces this year.

The Jimmer idea is to sort my rear subframe out, all new OEM arms and bushes, possibly polybushes and wheel bearings. HICAS delete, finally decided to lose it, and I will consider either an NA or fancy diff.

What do you reckon Steve, sound like a plan :)

Your car's plenty quick enough without adding in the "scrabble factor" of an NA diff, Tom!

Hopefully Jimmer will be able to talk you out of it. :)

Yeah man  there are good pubs and good roads down here so I hope we can get some zeds together around then.

I was just intrigued by the idea Si, you're right, but my car has a lot of traction I think it could carry it off. I don't have my heart set on one. I do however need to re-bush and refurb.

Terrible photo, but I fitted my brand new Nardi Torino. This wheel has been sat in a box for about 15 years! I love old-skool stuff. So happy with it, it looks a LOT better in the flesh, please excuse the dirty interior, it needs a good vacuum!

Gaz, I'll be able to post you out the Momo now!

Looks good Si......

.....Even with that disgustingly dirty interior.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Drained the car of its running in oil and put some of Fuchs finest in her. :cool3:

Fitted my front splitters and splitter supports tonight and removed rest of air box ready for my new apexi induction :) man not be to everyones taste but i like it a0a2efe95a5c9a0a4e4728c3afe409e8.jpg79e92636d4fbac0f50f37d72ae2ed728.jpgcb968e8cdc93171ec682d084f8d9f50d.jpg

Can you move them further out to better align with the shape of the car?

'Scrabble factor', yeah, good way of putting it. I'm still undecided if my NA swap was worth it. 1/4 mile times down due to poor launches. Need to invest in more sticky tyres and try again. Would also say the short shifter is the other mod that has slowed me down as it's to easy to miss 3rd gear...

Refitted the bumper & lights. Side lights are nice & bright. Headlight inserts look great too!

Tom...that is so much better mate:), I'm a big fan of the original look:thumbup1:

I also thought, if the zed was going to look more stylish... then I should too...

Looking good Tom:) and the car:lol:

That looks much better bud. You will need those sunglasses we have this thing called sun down here, don't spend to long in it though or you will turn into a beet root.

Thanks guys, Stephen you are quite right! I came here with a bag of scarves and gloves that I part-exed against some Tesco Ray Bans

I've had the nose for ages and tried to do it myself but it wasn't going to happen, so I Bodymeched it.

And Simondo has helped me with this...

Mondo to the rescue here! Behold, the bits I "helped him with":
