  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Time to replace what was the really grotty underlay that was starting to fall off my boot carpet.

I've struggled to find a good boot carpet, the one I have is in good shape, but the underlay is/was not. It was a used carpet as the previous one I hacked up to fit a sub.....worst mistake I have made....the hacking of the carpet and the sub.

So recently, I found a place selling what looked to be something almost identical to the original underlay. Now cutting it and glueing it in with high temp contact adhesive.

I do like these kind of jobs, very rewarding and if your insulation was not up to scratch, you’ll have a noticeable reduction in road noise coming from the back with that insulation! I had a real focus on driving down the road noise from the back, what you’re doing is one of the most effective noise isolators in the back end, but you’ll also benefit from an extra layer of this on the inside of the plastic trim pieces around the boot and wheel arch’s (beef up the OE insulation with the vinyl backing) to further hammer down that frequency.

Combine it with some strategically placed damping mat around the boot area and you get a nice refined “silence”; in relative Z terms!

Richard, I am getting tired of the constant reminder of the rules...

Oops - you're dead right JP.... Thing is, I was all set to take a pic or two - and then the heavens opened with the hale, the sleet and the snow.... So I slammed the garage door shut and ran indoors for cover

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Replaced the MAF - my first "proper" job on a Zed in 20 years haha. Only lost a 10mm socket somewhere, though. Hope the Zedgods let me off with that as I'm going somewhere tonight and don't want to push my luck by appearing cocky.

Has been a very (very) long process with life getting in the way but I finally finished my custom one off wing this week!

All hand made & everything except the painting done by me. Very happy to have it done!

Thanks very much guys, I'm very pleased with the result.

Exhaust is an Abflug Power Superior, had a veilside evolution previously but just love the quad tips!

A rare and expensive bird! Must say tempting though:

Actually, looking at the pictures of yours on the Aus forum I'm not sure that this is the real deal?

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

That one looks correct, details are all the same as mine & has the engraved plaques on the outer tips. That's very expensive though, hence why it's been for sale for over 6 months!

Keep your eyes open , they do come up cheaper. There's a full turbo back veilside system on there at the moment (front pipes are pretty rare, I've got those too) for a very good starting bid.

Sure? Take a look at these photos. Yours is the top one (from your Aus forum). The plaque is poorly fixed. The box hangers are different

and the tips are not the same as they go into the box. For that kind of money I would want to be sure the system is genuine.

The bottom one also looks like the tips have a bevelled edge to (the light bounces of them as an angle).

Love your car mate. What colour is it, looks custom?

Good spot! Mine is secured in each corner but is done much cleaner, see below. I wouldn't be surprised though if there was improvements or updates during its production life, there certainly was with the veilside systems (I've seen a couple variations) & they both look to have been made by the same supplier, the H pipes are identical bar a couple of small braces. I can't remember if the Abflug had it but the Veilside had a laser etched model number on the H pipe.

My Abflug also has a small plaque under the drivers side muffler with the brand & type of exhaust, model no. & batch no.

The colour is the standard AH3 Cherry Red Pearl, just well polished! Thanks for the kind words all.

cheers!

Forgot to say, the inner edge of the exhaust tips is beveled or angled, you can see it in the clean photo of mine AndrewG posted. It does however get filthy quickly so just looks like a black hole in photos generally.

Today tackled the front brake discs & pads (yesterday now) [5FB30308-F271-49BD-89E8-8B332006FE74.jpg

Changing rears today.

Changed the fuel filter and replaced the air box hose clamp. For me, that's quite adventurous :D

I can understand using a cable tie as a quick fix but why leave the broken hose clamp in place?
