  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

  • These parts turned up from Specialty-Z today. Last significant items for the "bolt on" build. I'll post some more pictures of all the stuff I have collected over the years (literally!) in the "Project

  • Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Due to the foul weather, I only managed to remove the front bumper this morning, so moved into the garage and had a play with some electrical items that I need to sort out.

EL panel fitted (had in a box for 6/7 years)

Made a template for some new rear number plate lights to do away with Mickey Mouse ones that do not illuminate anything.

Howard, when's your car off to Kraftwork?

Damn! That's the day I fly to Japan. I'd have come up, need to speak to Davide too for my maintenance polish.

You'll be super happy with the results and his work ethic.

It was awesome. The car was very happy today for some reason. Perhaps it was the cold air or just the nature of my personality rich zed :)

I may have only heard the old kickdown switch's 'tick' from the footwell mark full throttle about 3 times, but with something like 6mm of gas the car readilly lept off the stock boost gauge nearly every time it was pressed.

Most of the drive was spent carving side to side like a hammerhead shark between welsh slate and hillside, seizing the chances for snarls of gas on shortening short straights. Twice today as I finally emerged from dark treecover to the bright open lakeside, I chirped and warbled as far as I dared venture up the rev counter then went to snatch 4th and realised I was already in it! God it pulls hard.

The only slight concern is that my LSD isn't as L as I think it ought to be. The future will see this rectified

Looks stunning. I certainly wouldn't take mine out in that weather, but looks like you had an awesome time!

Time for a Quaife is it? Take it from me, they're awesome bits of kit. Having had the pleasure of driving an 800hp Z32 in the US with one fitted, the way they put the power down is fantastic. Total confidence!

Because the car handles really well, yes it slides about, but it's probably got better manners than my Honda Accord. I wasn't nervous, whenever it spun up or moved about I knew it was going to and never had more than 750 revs of wheelspin or a quarter turn of opposite lock.

It just felt like one wheel would slip then take the other with it slightly afterwards. It's probably just the nature of a viscous diff.

Finally! Dry salt free roads! I've been desperate to get the Z out, not driven it in 4 months. Started first turn of the key and ran like a dream!

It gave me a chance to get it out the garage to do a bit of work on it which I've also been wanting to do for yonks.

Something that's been annoying me for rather a long time is a wobbly passenger side mirror. The base bracket which is made out of cast aluminium fractured after hitting an old Spanish woman about 5 years ago who thought it would be a great idea to walk out between two parked vans, looking the wrong way and straight into my Z. Fortunately I saw her in time and was able to avoid a direct hit, but the mirror chassis took a battering. She was ok apart from a few nasty bruises. I managed to fix the bracket with some chemical metal, however it started to wobble again during the Euro road trip that Andrew and I went on last year. Managed to find a good passenger side mirror from coopd which was from a later model with heated glass. Stripped that down, removed the black wires which were for the heated glass and swapped everything over.

Not a very interesting post but might help those who are wanting to disassembled for paint or similar damage.

As I disassembled, you can see that the bracket has completely failed:

Like....completely. It had broken into far more pieces than originally.

New chassis all fitted.

Covers all secured:

Connector depinned and repined. They're differed as they newer style mirrors contain the two black wires for the heating elements.

 just think Si, if you'd had r888s on your car you could have saved your wing mirror... and that old Spanish lady!

I'd probably have killed her! I had Bridgestones on at the time iirc.

Tom, they’re cracking photos! Really do like your Zed, maybe the nicest none standard one out there for me. :cool3:

Si, even the parts on your Zed that can’t be seen give me the horn! :helpsmilie::tt1:

thats looking similar to the route i was planning for the october weekend if anyone else signs up for it

I drove it in spectacular Snowdonia, which lived up to it's name today :) Pics!

Thanks 007. Well we can all use my place as a stepping stone into the hills. Just PM and you're all welcome for a cuppa.

Craig, was that for the guy in Beaumaris who is having his 70th this year?
