  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

LOl!!!

Well it lives outside all year and hasnt been cleaned since Japfest Silverstone so i thought I better make some effort

since it will be on public display in the square:biggrin:

20170715_135644.jpgwell went to fit DRL and painted callipers today. so drove it to the unit, no problems, drove into the unit still good. looked at some excess wiring which was attached to nothing so cut 2 cable ties and then decided to put her up on the ramps and thats when it all went wrong.

She just wouldn't go into drive!!! only reverse neutral but wouldn't go any further into drive, so decided to remove all the old toad alarm(which didn't work) and the immobiliser set up.

what a load of bad wiring, but thats done and ready for a better system.

But the problem is still there and the car still won't to go into drive, she is now up on ramps ready for further investigation. Not sure what the fault is but seems like a mechanical stop.

has any one here got any gems of wisdom on this fault? all help gratefully received.

I drove mine today and boy does she fly. I'm still @ 9psi so the new SZ 740's map and the Selin are the only upgrades; my feedback this time is that the throttle response is majorly improved. It's possibly all down to the mapping but either way, with this setup when I poke the throttle she really picks up her skirt and runs!

This morning I setup the throttle bodies, reinstalled and balanced them, then adjusted the TPS back to 0.44v as it had been removed. I connected the last few bits and bobs (cleaning and restoring as I went) and double checked everything before the big fire up. First start up was positive in the fact that there was no fuel or obvious air leaks but it was a 5 cylinder Z, doh. I had datascan already running and so a quick cylinder drop test proved to me that the coilpack connector has to be pushed fully home in order to be functional!

With that minor oversight fixed and hearing it purr nicely up to temperature, I just couldn't resist but take her for a quick shake down test drive. Very happy with the results so far, next task is to setup the Blitz DSBC Spec R boost controller and crank up those GT525's!

Doing a boost leak check is now a bit of a pain in the hoop with the Selin setup so for now I'll just have to install the factory T piece every time I do one. I want to get the car down to Jim in the near future for a smoke boost leak test.

I can just picture you putting a small spirit level on that hose clamp !!

Lovely work JP - nice one .

Thanks dude. If you look closely you'll notice that both those clamps (left and right throttle bodies) are pointing to the the right as I couldn't decide whether to point them inwards or outwards! My decision is inwards so I'll have to swap that one over and get my theodolite back out! All the others are out of view as I don't like the look of T bolt clamps but I couldn't position those ones discretely.

Just a thought Joel, but if they were to both point outwards, they would not distract the eye away from the throttle linkage.

With the greatest of respect you understand mate.

Or do they proudly point towards them, guiding and luring you into an enchantment of captivating mechanical loveliness?

:yes::thumbup1:

J***s I wish my Zed was that far, your engine bay looks immaculate Joel I hoop my engine will look just as spotless as yours when I’m done.

I’m still struggling with the rear, Subframe has had its layer of primer, Black paint and Teroson under body coat.

Took the fuel tank out Saturday and the filler pipe so I can sandblast and spraypaint it, some of the smaller brackets for exhaust etc. are really rusty

Sunday I painted the inner archers with the body coat.

all OEM bushing have been replaced by Whiteline bushing obviously done over several weekends.

The knuckles are blasted on low pressure with plastic to clean them SPL pro bushing and ConceptZ tie rod conversion kit is installed it is still in primer so it needs to be sprayed.

Sorry for all the pictures Thought I’d share some of the work that is done.

Here are some pictures of the subframea>a>a>a>a>

Well deserved si, especially as you now have the clips for your kidney cover in the boot lol..

Very happy to have received runner up for beat engine bay this year and congratulations to rolandas for picking up the winner again a well deserved winner.. Sorry I didn't speak to you rolandas, I wasn't actually aware it was your car or that you were there!

Well done to Andrew G too for your awards and was really pleased to see James Paul picking up the best modified car as I know it's been a long road with many ups and downs, so again well done and well deserved James!

Great turn out again this year, had a great time and thanks to the committee for the organising and hard work you do behind the scenes..

Great to see you all and looking forward to the next tribal gathering..

So the trophy is in place next to last year's one in the display cabinet.. Looks cool now, like a snore Zz

After fighting through the traffic delays on the M1 coming home from the AGM, I returned home to find a little parcel had arrived, so after a well needed pint of Stella, a chat with the wife and the calming of my boxer who was ever excited at dad coming home lol, I had a little tinker with the Z again..

The parcel contained a nice billet alloy master cylinder brace. Now in place under the bonnet..

Another job ticked off the list.

Glad to say the list is getting shorter now!

Targa hook to fit as soon as time is available.

Been a good year so far for progress on the Z..

Clutch, paintwork and some interior tidying and I think my Z will be finally finished..

Mine's been my daily since I bought it, but this summer I'm going to pull my finger out and get it looking how I want it. Never going to be a show pony but hopefully shouldn't look too out of place amongst some of yours.

That engine bay is really clean, nice work mate.

next task is to setup the Blitz DSBC Spec R boost controller

Surely your car is far too gorgeous for an, *ahem*, hideous lump like that?!?

Why not something much more modern? I've got one of these, haven't installed it yet though. Should be much easier to locate somewhere as it's very shallow. I must admit I'm slightly confused why people are still hankering over really old models that look a bit naff imo...

Starter motor finally dispatched and should be with me on Thursday for fitting on Saturday! Hopefully no more embarrassing 'can you help push' situations!

4 new Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres ordered. I had slightly oversized tyres on the front of my Z, so have gone from a 265 30 19 to a 255 30 19.....and because I have OCD, I decided to order exactly the same tyre model for my rears (285 30 19). Unfortunately Pirelli don't do a 255 30 19 in the same tread pattern as the rear...well, they do, but it's a run-flat option only. I should now be able to fit my front coilovers and drop it a little (and will raise the rear slightly too).

To be fair, I'm not fussed what it looks like as it'll never been seen! I chose more on the basis of feedback from tuners for a reliable controller.

Fair enough, where are you fitting it then?
