  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Mine is: No wife = Happy life

Pmsl... That'd be a little foolish right now I agree.. The queen of sheba can turn to medusa relatively quickly..

She does have a sense of humour though and yo be fair she's older than me too so I kinda could get away with it lol

PMSL.....

....But I am pleased to hear things are coming together for you Paul...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My car has finally been reunited with these beauts

Crappy pics but you get the picture.

Really compliments the 90s tuner style IMO

Now just need the gear knob, impul rs wheels and the steering wheel ?

I got her to the local car wash today yo get all that nasty salt off the body. Seemingly pointless really as I had to drive home in the wet again but at least there's a lot less than before.

Gotta work out what's going on with my passenger seat belt, it's fully unwound but is locking, it won't retract so I'm not sure what's going on with it.. Any ideas on a fix for this guys? It all seems to be working but it just won't retract. when you pull it out a little, it feels like the mechanism is locking up as if you've tugged at it.

Any ideas on fixing would be gratefully received.

If there's a schematic of the belt it would be good to see how it works.

it might be the gravity lock which it was for mine, take the mechanism off and undo the side which doesnt have the explosives, and take the gravity switch off and see if it makes a difference.

Today, I actually drove her! Roof off and everything!

There was a "retro car" meet locally so me and a couple of friends thought we'd have a look over this afternoon. Interesting convoy... a Ferrari 355 Spider, my Zed and an immaculate Mk2 XR2.

We didn't stay all that long as it was really rather chilly, but it was nice to get out in her again and she got some really nice comments whilst she was there so :thumbup1:

PICS FFS [emoji13]

Thankfully, my wife and I have somehow managed to get past our problems and I'm pleased to say the flames have reignited.. So I'm afraid you're all going to have to put up with me a little longer now..

Thanks for the kind messages, it meant a lot more than you know.

Think I'm gonna take the old girl out for a run tonight..

Feeling kinda blessed.. I managed to get my two favourite ladies back this week.

That's good to hear mate!

 Explosives?

Are you referring to the spring mechanism? Mine is series one so if you're referring to the airbag explosives, my car only has one airbag and that'd be the driver lol.

I have a feeling it is the gravity lock but wondering if it's possible to get to the gravity lock without removing the door card? I have some really long thin screwdrivers I was hoping to drop the mechanism with but don't have a clue where the gravity lock is located.

Just a quick one, surely if you remove the gravity lock, the seat belt will not lock in the event of a crash?

It's the bit with the wire which in a crash I presume activated and fires a lock into place. Anyhow you could try to do it without the door card but might be much easier to just take it off.

Removing the gravity lock will still lock the belt via the inertia lock, and the electronic (explosive) lock, if you take the gravity one out (a little ball bearing and a piece of plastic) and it still doesn't move, try checking the other side that the explosive hasn't locked up.

I'm no expert but just get it out if you can and get around with a few things

Did you say that chin spoiler is coming off?

That plan's on hold for the time until I know how the whole "having premises" situation is going to work out :pinch:

Hopefully getting the Zed back in 7 days time from a gearbox repair with all fresh new bearings! No more dreaded whine :)

I was thinking about having mine done as the synchros have had it and it's quite noisy, mind if I ask how much it set you back? And where did you have it done?

It's costing around 700 quid, with a place called SVS in Cardiff, wales - said they have experience with the car

Ah nice, what does that include? Gearbox removal? All bearings? Synchros as well?

Gearbox removal, all bearings, new first motion shaft - not sure on the synchros

I did naff all to my Zed today, cos it's bleedin orrible outside. Goddamm these lousy, miserable grey days, can't even muster up enough energy to take the cover off. Come on spring, I need a fix of zed in my life. Hmmm, I feel better now. Looking forward to 11th, at least I'll get a day out then.

Indeed, just about 6 weeks now till the Corse Season ends, always get a bit of sun then just to stick the knife in. February tomorrow though, spring is coming. Thank Christ for that, hate January.
