  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Yeah, this is the 'last push' to get the outside as factory-fresh as I can. Once the paint and spoiler are sorted, I'll be able to rebuild with the last of the new OEM exterior trim bits. Amazing how much stuff is now no longer available and that will only continue to increase. Rear brake light is now NLS, I'd imagine it won't be long until the roof bar goes. Many nuts and bolts are now gone, rear screen top trim will be gone soon I expect. Very pricey for what it is, but had to get a new replacement before that goes obsolete.

One part that I've been trying to get hold of for ages in the bumper support cable. Hardly see them on Z32s now, AndrewG's is the last one I remember. This is NLS, but managed to find one, just need to do a full refurb on it with new stainless fasteners. All the anal stuff to do now!

What's a bumper support cable Si ?

To support the front bumper at speed, Nissan fitted a support bracket which is screwed into the bumper support, it is then secured to the centre of the metal cross bar at the lower aperture of the bumper. It stops air pressure tugging the bumper aperture open at speed. That leads to airline cracks in the paint. It's flexible so that if you scuff a curb, it just bends out of the way and returns to the normal position.

It's a crude fix that Nissan had, but it's very discrete. Hardly any Z32s have these anymore and the one I found needs a refurb (can't buy these new). So it'll be stripped, new stainless steel clevis pins to be fitted with stainless r-clip and the brackets will be blasted and powder coated black along with the number plate bracket. All super anal.

Are you going to get it painted in the factory Pearl Magnolia then...?

Interesting. I never knew that.

I was looking at my bumper the other day (it's in the spare room) and thought, I wonder what those are... be useful for my splitter. Well il be damned that's pretty much exactly what they are for.

Mine is still very much in-situ also....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

What do they look like in situ...?

I'll nip out to the garage and get a picture tomorrow......

Is it, by any chance, the two "clips" that are visible towards the front of the lower bumper opening (if you're looking diagonally down into that opening)?

If so, then mine still has it fitted too. I know my old black one didn't because the bumper mouth had a significant "dip" in the centre of it.

Just orderd loads of parts from zed centre, can't believe how much parts are now, small fortune for window and targa trims, plus interior trim and scuttle panels.

Started work on the zed to get her finished as soon as possible, hopefully paint next week and good polish and refresh.

You see it head on Si...

Dead centre from under the number plate. It's a short cable that connects the top of the aperture to the bottom lip as in Funky's post above....

What are your plans for it? To make it a clean car and have the black one as the power machine?

Should that read "I can't believe how expensive zcentre are." Jokes aside the exchange rate is pretty poor at present, it's been crap against the dollar for ages. Remember before the crash, when it was like $2 to the £. Haven't caught the full story today but it looks like T and the Don have sorted a few things out trade wise so hopefully the tax will drop if nothing else.

A sign of good things in my opinion. "The special relationship" took a beating during Obamas administration.

It certainly did, and nice to know the bust has been returned to the oval office.
