  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

I bought a mint car too... But I had to take it to another level by finessing the details with incremental changes to the look and performance.

I opened another thread for a couple of pictures you requested. ..

I drove mine. Properly! Now I have my new Mishimoto radiator and auto trans oil cooler in place, I thought it was about time to use the Zed for a few days.....

.......I didn't realise how much I had missed it:cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Good to hear you got her out for a bit Richard. I'm not driving mine at the moment so I don't risk damaging anything until the trip to Lee dent. It's agonising walking by her every day and getting in the Ford, but I got to suffer a little longer in order to do the right thing.. I'd be mortified if anything else went wrong right now!

I'm currently on the ferry out of Portsmouth, taking the overnight crossing to Caen with my Z. Nice drive to the Picardy region of France and to Chantilly. Weather is good and tomorrow it will be t-top weather.

Hope you have a better experience than me last week. Picked up two scratches from ignorant people on the Skoda last week. Spent the day we got back polishing them out. People are so ignorant. Last time I use the ferry, tunnel from now on.

Yesterday I parked right outside the front door of the office against a kerb, and someone (probably a courier) managed to hit the driver's door and wing mirror with a large object (trolley?). Luckily it wasn't the Z and the marks came out, but there's no winning!

Today I intend to battle the rain to fit my new decat... after getting quotes of 150 quid to fit it I thought I would just buy a bigger trolley jack and try it myself. Have a drill and a dremel for cutting out old bolts so hopefully wont be too hard.....

Always use the tunnel for the Zed for that reason. Mind you you need to be careful of the "kerbs" in the shuttle

carriages and nice wheel rims, there is not a lot of room for error.

Yeah I've used the tunnel with the van before. Tbh the other clincher was that it took 14 hours door to door on the ferry with boarding delays both sides, you can get to bloody Thailand in that time. The real killer though, nearly £500 return you could go to Spain for not much more all in. With the Skoda having one these efficient new TSI engines and getting about 50 to the gallon in comfort, il just drive all the way to Kent and then across from Calis. Won't save much time in reality but there's the opportunity to sight see, stop and its vastly cheaper. The scratches were just the Cherry.

Get yourself an angle grinder with some slitting discs bud. If you were still local I'd say bring it over and we'd get it done without too much haselle.

Took the sub frame of the zx today great way to spend a Saturday<a href=20160820_121547_zpsretwzk3k.jpg' alt='20

I did a couple of small, niggly, jobs I have been meaning to do for some time now...

I finally (after how many years??) tidied up the boot trims, where my Meister R suspension adjusters poke through. I bought some metal washers and simply stuck them in place.... It's made quite a difference!

I also replaced the ECU coolant temp sensor, plug and loom. The old ones had gone green and brittle - and TBH the price of buying new rendered cleaning up the old ones pointless!

Oh, and I drove it a little more:cool:

A socket works much better..

I continued cleaning the black stuff from under my bonnet and managed to finish it today between showers and trying to hold the bonnet from blowing away!

Forgot to put the pics up yesterday but here's the difference. DSC_0416.jpg

All clean now

Still got to tackle the stuff trapped between the bumper and the body though. It seems this product won't shift it. Anyone know of a good way to remove this?

Took my Z for a drive yesterday night. I have to say that dismounting an opening up the headlight to clean them is a long and shitty job to do but the results are fenomenal. Even though the chrome on the reflector were a bit faded, due to the clean projector-lenses the headlight shine like they should now.

Anyone tried those "Lumileds" from Philips yet?

Mike

Did you buff it by hand? I've stopped using Turtle Wax as I find it leaves swirls in the paint as of late. The red colour version is good though.

Just plain old Turtle wax and if your paint work is good then it goes on fine Jay I use a small sponge to put it on then get most of it of with the purple cloth then finish it off with the grey cloth.

So lucky to have a big garage and I feel your pain with not having one as I used to do everything to the car s outside years ago. But its a great place to be when its raining like now and I can potter about in it. :)
