  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

What have I done today? Well I've bought a slicktop :tt2:

I wish I had your amount of disposable cash...!!

Been a busy couple of days, adjusted the bonnet latch, lowered the coilovers a bit more & resprayed the engine bay. Now I'm sat in liverpool women's hospital as the wife gave birth to our 2nd son this morning so very happy & very tired.

Congratulations mogsy.. I'll crack open a stella for ya. Wet the baby's head and all that..

Took my Z out for a spin, filled her up and managed to do 23.54mpg:laugh: Let's be clear, I drive this old lady like an old lady

Haha little do you know! :(

Im getting it for a loooong term project. Pontiac needs doing first. Got all the bits to complete the slickie if I stick a VG in it, or fit the SR20 I'm getting off my mate but that'll take a lot more work.

Poor day today put the engine hoist together to take the engine out and the car fell off the stands oops but no damage from what I could see and its started raining ffs still not got the engine out going to put the front on the path tomorow so it's nice and flat and its got too come out as im back at work that night

I got a 8x4 sheet of 18mm ply, got it cut into 3 sections and that made life 100xs easier. Allowed me to use the hoist on gravel.

Don't put the SR in. I know I works and it's actually a better swap than most people think but getting what a stock vg30 can get power wise for a boost increase vs what you'd have to put into the SR and i recon you've gained nothing. Yes it's lighter and parts are 10 a penny but it's a 2.0L 4 banger. If you wanna do an engine swap then I'd go for some aluminium blocked v8 any day of the week and make strong NA power and get the weight loss. Alternatively have an easy life and maintain the vg30 and add a few psi with a map.

Thanks mate. I was tempted by that myself but got plenty on at the moment. I'll have it off you after it's been sitting in your garage for a few years ;-)

Haha!

I've never had a slickie and this ones a keeper. Maybe the mrs will even drive it. On seconds thoughts that might be a bad idea:lol:

Changed the rear wiper seal. Old one looked fine but slightly shrunken. You can see where the water has been pooling from this pic.

No obvious signs anywhere else though to suggest where it's coming from. Spoiler bolts and the wiper arm bit look fine.

No luck there :( Suppose I'll try changing the washer seal next. Does it slide on over the top or do I need to remove the nozzle?

On the plus side, made my final insurance payment today. Now for three months of investment in the Z before it's hell all over again :D

Dutch, if you're still leaking I'd suggest trying this..

Where your boot windscreen meets the corners at the rear of the boot lid, get some food colouring and just put a tiny drop in the rear left corner where the water usually sits.

Before you do this, take the plastic cover off the underside and tape a little kitchen roll to the underside of the glass seal in the bootlid at that corner. Leave the plastic trim off and then close the boot and put a drop of food colouring right in the corner of the glass and then add a tablespoon of water to it so it pools there. Leave it for the day and then check the paper towel later or the following morning.

I've got a funny feeling that you'll find the colouring on the paper towel.

I'm fairly sure that my leak is in the same place.

Water seeping in around the rubbers in the screen corners.

If nothing else, it'll confirm if you've got a boot screen seal problem or not..

Worth a try?

I'm thinking of trying to reseal mine with a hoover and some silicone. Put the silicone on the underside in the corner and then hoover it on the topside to suck the sealant in to the gap.

I've used this repair process before on an old Renault and it worked surprisingly well.
