  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Refreshed my front calipers tonight as they was a bit faded. Came out well I think. Also painted the rear disc drums also so it's all nice and black for when I put the wheels back on.

Still need to change the rear caliper colour to match the front also.

Gonna do mine in Black on a nice dry day:)

Two things done yesterday, the previous owner drilled and put the immobilizer blue led on the top of the light pod back, i wasn't altogether unhappy with this but after acquiring a mint one and having the clocks out i thought i would fit.

The blue led is now just offered through under the cowl as you see, same as the infrared remote sensor for the front halos, looking at it again i think i'll move both into that gab where the pod back and the cowl meet.

Same with cig lighter, not sure that it was ever lit correctly and it was always loose, it would rise up when a charger was pulled out , also there was too much wiring underneath and this would foul on the console and hence not seating totally perfectly.

All wiring tidied therefore, cig lighter diffuser spotlessly washed clean, bright white T5 smd bulbs fitted in this and for the ashtray which is actually much brighter than the pic is showing, also i affixed very firmly from underneath the mirror control switch.

Had a Zed filled day today. Went to Preston breakfast meet this morning, the weather has been so nice I even took the targas off on the way home! :)

Then, got home and painted my calipers black:)

Lucky with the weather! twas not so great down south, but our own meet was well worthwhile, we just need to get half the people to turn up next time :)

Even though i re did my mirror indicators only recently, i had been thinking for sometime on going back to stock and couple that with some lazy leds i noticed yesterday (two were not fully extinguishing), enough was enough they're going as i also have a masterplan which doesn't require mirror signals.

So with a view to the change over today, yesterday i quickly sanded and sprayed up and lacquered some of my many 'backs' i have.

With also a view to a full respray next year, i am testing a few things out and with the moustache and headlights done in a dark grey i thought what the heck i would do the mirrors the exact same .

I actually quite like them, i did notice the neighbours BMW is a white car but the mirrors are black.

I will give it some more thought but my next move might be to do the same with the triangular base plate and/or all of it but we'll see :).

Got the new Z out of storage for a good wash/dry/polish, and then back into storage and SORN'd till spring.

Felt good to valet a Z again, it's been a while :)

I gave my Zed the wash it deserved, after using it almost daily last week......

......It's now clean, shiny and tucked up in my garage.....

Is there an explanation as to why these posts aren't backed up with pictures?

You're the second person to ask why I didn't take pictures! I'm obviously out of practice :P

There will be a full multi-stage detail, including a bit of wet sanding, in the spring. With lots of pictures :D

New wheels put on, 1/2 HID's installed (box hidden in wing) and clear side indicators put in.

LOL at the tools you were using! Half an acro-prop, a junior hack saw, a brush, the end of a jump lead and a stone mason's hammer! You been to the Mikey Bean school of car mechanics or something?

Actually, that isn't a junior hack saw - at first glance it was - a hack saw blade and a tyre iron!

Lol, no hacksaw its the 300zx tire iron next next to a ratchet extension, the brush was from all the mud that fell out of the fenders, the mason hammer i used to bend back the fender stills because speed bumps as with the mole clamp :( . i also used a round file to make the hole big enough for the HID pulg to fit in the fender and the scaffolding pipe was to get off the lug nuts that someone  managed to tighten immensely tight.

EDIT: Si you get the picture :)

Drove to work.... Damn I love this car!!

That'll look canny, Tom! :thumbup1:

Gona ask Keith to cut the vents out before he paints it. Black Moustache or white moustache? Still can't decide.
