Nitrogen is Lighter than Air .. yes it would make a little differents if you was trying to get less rolling resistance but if u have Pouriest alloys or suffer from slow leaks

dont bother

I have it in my A6 m8, haven't had to top up any tyres but don't notice any difference in saving fuel etc.

I do know that you will have less chance of air leaking and there is no moisture in nitrogen so it saves your new alloys from corrosion.

As above and that's it. We use it at work to prevent corrosion. Take it from me, you will not notice any difference between air and nitrogen in your car. As said before, bloody expensive to.

£40 to get your tires pumped up for not a real noticable difference seems a bit steep to me! Seems like another way to claw money out of the motorist in my opinion, im sure the GTR has nitrogen filled tires but think its a little bit over the top really, id never bother....

Just a gimmick I reckon Gaz.

2 people I know have used in their tyres in their BMW's and no noticeable difference etc. I wouldnt bother mate.

i had mine done for free, its supposed to be more stable meaning temperature changes dont affect them so you wouldnt have to check between winter and summer.

i didnt pay for it so wasnt fussed either way

That price includes a wheel alignment also which I need done after changing my wheel spacers so its that what caught my eye mate.

Total waste on a road car, they use nitrogen in f1 one because they are working on very fine margins, so any tiny difference is still a difference, and they use them on airplane tyres for the stability they offer in extremely changeable temperatures, much more than you get on the road!

at the end of the day Gaz its gonna got you £20-£30 for tracking and balancing I would have thought so the extra tenner for a trial to see what you think ain't gonna break the bank hey.....you can let us know what difference it makes if any :-)

I tell you what I like its the fact there is no moisture in nitrogen and this will prevent any corrosion on the inside. I used to have a BMW X3 and one tyre needed pumped up every week due to corrosion on the inside lip of the alloy. So that alone is a big plus for me:biggrin:

better getting helium Gaz....get a punture and sit at the side of the road laughing your tits off

Since the air around us is already about 75-80% nitrogen, I cannot see it making much of a difference!!

All I do know is that nitrogen itself is an inert gas and therefore does not react with anything else. If marketing blurb is to be believed, nitrogen filled tyres maintain their pressure for longer as the gas is less prone to escape. The downside, if that is true, is that when the pressure does drop, you would have to go back for another nitrogen refill. I could not be asked TBH - I have a little tyre inflator which plugs into the ciggie lighter socket, so it's no hassle to check and top up with normal air!! And certainly not worth the added cost.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

A lot of good advice guys and thank you for your posts. I am still on the fence what to do I never wanted it for increased performance but for the pratical side of nitrogen having bigger molecules so less chance of your tyres deflating and its moisture free. If the offer is extended for another month I think I will give it a try.:)

I remember taking an offer with a type place for only a fiver they would so all tyres and I could get them checked and topped at anytime for the life of the tyre...

so the advantages are less change in pressure in the tyre due to no water vapour (expanding and contracting) and less chance of corrosion (as has been said)....

however, since I had a slow leak on one rim (for whatever reason) I found myself having to make an effort to go back there to get it topped and as you can imagine they tried to sell me other stuff all the time.

in the end I gave up and went back to air, readily available and mostly free.

however there is no way I would pay £30 or £40 for it.

Waste of time and money. Got this in my toyota celica in poland and there is no diffrence. Only thing You got is more problems to change tyre preasure (if You need it).
