I am looking for people to help me with my engine transplant. Although i am quite handy with the spanners, this is unfamiliar ground for me! I could really use anybody that has experience removing the engine from the 300zx. Even if you havnt done this before the more people i have helping the better!

I have use of a 2 post lift plus any tools i require for two days, Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th November. I can be there from 9am till as late as i need. This is a link to where i will be going, Ramp and Wrench

Please Please Please, if anybody can come down and help on either or both days, even for just a couple of hours, it would be very much appreciated! I really need to save my Zed and i cant do it alone. I would even be willing to pick people up and take them home to save there own petrol!!

i don't know how the replacement engine looks like part wise. MarkDerby have covered a lot.

You should consider if you want to repace the engine wire harness while the engine is out.

We were 3 persons the first time we removed my engine. We used about 3 hours to get the engine out. The thing is just to remove all clips and wires in the engine and if you remove the gearbox (the easiest way i think) remember tools to remove the gearbox

When you say remove the gear box, do you mean removed it from the car completely or just detach it from the engine? I was hoping it would be easy enough to just leave the gear box where it is and detach it from the engine

He opens at 9am and said he can stay open as late as i need up to midnight. If we want we can order food to the garage, there's tea and coffee on tap and James, the owner, is a really nice guy and said he and his colleague would be there to help too.

must be, i had my first AH3 zed at that point as well, so we have both moved on from then lol

be wary of getting too much help , with Voddy and Mark alone you will have that baby out and re inserted in hours , ill be good at brewing up and passing you tools as required :cool3:

The quicker the better, I need my zed back!!

Thinking about it, if I am done with time to spare, I have the ramp as long as I want for Saturday and Sunday so I see no reason why we couldn't get another car on after mine if someone has something needing attention ;)

Take your time, get the new engine ready while old engine cools a bit...... I have done 4 times now and got my last engine from stand into car in under an hour on my own..... (bolted in not fully working)....lol

You got some experience helping by the sounds of it.....

Have you thought about deleting the water pipes under the plenum while you do the swap?

Anyway... hope all goes well....

Hi I plan to tackle this myself soon do you mind taking plenty of pics for me to have a browse, also I was advised to leave gearbox in car as it's easier to get the engine out without it attached I think all you need to do is undo the bolts on the bell housing but remember to support the gearbox or it will go crashing to the ground when you pull your engine
