Todays action at Santa Pod dint get going till around 11.00am due to misty/foggy conditions and a very wet track.

When we got going i was lined up against and old school dodge (Dart??) with a big V8 installed. Car was a mid 12s contender so as you would imagine I was some distance behind him soon after launch!!

However at around the 1000ft mark his whole firbre glass front end flew up and over the car skywards before heading to the centre of the track. I reckon he was doing nearly a ton when it happened.

i rapidly dived to my left and lifted off the gas before passing the front end now lying slap bang between the two lanes.

No damage to the car or driver and my only problem was elevated heart rate and raised blood pressure.

Phew!!! Too close for comfort!!!

Later on I managed to get a decent 14.87 run posted with a pleasing terminal(for me) of 95.25mph.

60ft time of 2.26 was poor due to very little grip on a cold track even with the Mickey Ts warmed up.

Even those with full drag slicks were having difficultity today.

Anyway... no more excuses I was pleased overall with the day as a finale to my short season.

Noz was running his black TT as well today and hopefully he will post up his full 4 run sheet so you can all see "Mr Consistant" in his full glory.:winkiss:

Rusty sills was also there spectating and next season Im gonna persuade him to have a run up the black stuff.:whistling:

also running was my Z club buddy Paul(Z32 TT auto) in the Z Club drag challenge along with a few old school 240Zs some of whom are running turbos and Nos.

No pics as I was busy!

Im fine Bri.

It was over so fast there wasnt time to worry about it!!

Yep Chungs 14.56 and my 14 .57 will carry over to 2013 as the fastest NAs recorded.

This late in the year I was never going to do a 14.5 anything. Track too cold so traction poor. humidity too high and atmospheric pressure just not quite where it was needed.

So its out with the engine over winter and in with the new one.

Im still a bit lacking in consistency too.

i had better get a move on in improving that before I get any older or it will be too late.:whistling:

Thats just the kinda news I like to hear.:winkiss:

I would love it for dave to get back into his slickie.:cool3:

Or someone else to join in would be good too.

the Z club Drag challenge looks like its alll going to be bracket eliminator style next year which just isnt my thing at all.:sad:

Some side by side action against Dave(or any other NA) would be brilliant. First to cross the line wins stylee!

2013.... BRING IT ON!

that's what it's all about Pete gotta get the heart rate up :) wish I'd been there to see that. Sounds like it was bit more interesting than our spin at Silverstone :) 14.87 ain't bad considering the conditions and I'll join you for a few rounds next year. Get a few more zeds doing the quarter and let's see if we can actually get a team of five for TOTB next year

sounds like a bit of a brown-pants moment pete! glad you and the car got through ok!

Like the high speed spin Bob n me had at Silverstone it was all over in a very few seconds so its no big deal really.

Afterwards the Dodge driver and me had a bit of a laugh about it all.

The reality is the drag strip and the race circuit are much safer than the M1. Incidents involving injury are rare and when they do occur the emergency teams are on the case in seconds . Contrast that to motorway incidents where cars burn and people lie unconcious for ages while emergency services battle their way thru traffic to reach the scene.

The whole title of this thread needs to be taken with a pinch of salt really.:smartass:

But the fun is over now for this season.

There are weeks of work planned for my car and Bobs too.

Bob just seems to have got his in front of mine in the workshop queue.:taz:

Hahaha, good to see you again mate

Auto, 225/55/16 Acceleras, full interior, cats. HKS air filters, back boxes, manual boost controller, shed loads of boost and NIStune. I may try and hit the 12s next weekend with some 17x9.5 alloys, 275/45 tyres and a more aggressive map, but it's the mostly stock exhaust system and tiny Auto turbos that are the real problem.

Thanks Noz for posting the figures.

i wanted to have them to highlight to members on here just what a top set of numbers looks like. I know having an auto helps with consistency but none the less it shows what a skilled driver can achieve.

For those of you who are not sure what Im on about ... forget the absolute figures and concentrate on the variation(or lack of it) between the four runs. 60ft. ET and terminal . No matter where you look the closeness of the figures is top notch. You should try some bracket eliminator racing next season.

Stunning.

Not that I know eff all about drag racing the ETs are consistent and believe from what I have gathered from peoples explanation of bracket racing if you can manage 4 runs varying by 0.06sec would make it quite easy tom post a dial in time that due to the consistency shown on your times you should become very successful at bracket racing

But remember I know nothing just pretending I do

I know eff all about bracket racing either but it's gotta be more straightforward with an auto if it's well set up. Left foot on the brake and push the throttle to the floor on green and hold it there till you fly past the line :)

I was spinning up holding it at just 3k RPM, let alone flooring it. Traction wasn't great :(

It was a little bit tongue in cheek :) I don't have a problem flooring my car but am absolute pants at changing gear so auto would be good for me :)
