Hi all,

Just registered as I'm looking at getting myself a Z... (TT or an NA, with a Manual box).

My girlfriend had an accident in my old MX6 and spun her, So I'm looking at something new and improved, faster and much more fun, I aimed at keeping the MX6 for a very long time and spent allot of time and plenty of funds on it, So I would very much like to fun the new car at the same standerd but, I would really like to know about running costs and well known places to obtain spares? I would guess £3000, £4500 would get me something in reasonable condition?

Many thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam,

Thank you all!

As I expected, I'm not going to be getting as much as I thought for the old girl so my budget has had a small hit...

Jim, your Zed is lovely!! Slightly off topic... I've not owned a car with any mods and have always try'd to keep away from them to keep things standard, just because I've never been too sure how they affect insurance plus the hassle and if buying a car, mods have been fitted well by someone with good competence and not bodged on, not pointing any fingers chaps. I hope that few Zed's have not had this, but it looks like owners fork out to get things fitted properly, (hope I'm not sounding like a toff, haha)... Could any give me some advise on this? i.e. What are the mod's that greatly affect the premiums, I would assume that having a turbo mod that obviously has a direct effect on power output (and grins too) would have a big impact?.. But what about small things like upgrading to HID's?

Anyway, just looking for a Zed that as been loved...

Adam

Mines on 'normal ' ,ie not classic, insurance with admiral. Admitting to a few basic mods, exhaust, induction kit, chip, leather interior put my premium up about £100. Think it went from £700 to £800. Can't be exact off the top of my head as I've got a multi car policy

Mines a standard non turbo fully comp £180 for a 34 year old Footman James

Thank you all!

Just to add here Adam if you trawl through old posts then the name "jimmer" and quality engine work and re-builds go hand in hand mate,he DOES know his stuff and if the car in question has had him near it then you can be rest assured it has not been bodged...Goodluck in your search:winkiss:

Hi all,

Not used forums much so hope it ok to wake this post up.

Guessing that as it's been nearly nine years this would be appropriate?

(I’m also very dyslexic so if I come across as condescending or incompetent, please go easy on me. Grammarly for some reason won’t work in the forums text box so I’ll be using google doc’s to compose all my messages).

I managed to get myself a nice restoration project yesterday.

She’s a 1991 TT auto that has been sleeping in a garage for 18 years.
I’m really looking forward to sorting out the hopefully minor rust and dent issues in prep for a respray, making new or replacing worn-out parts. Dropping the engine for a rebuild.

(Dare I say I have a 2JZ-GE in bits that is getting rods and forged pistons etc, that could go in if the VG is really not salvageable)
Many also consider a manual conversion.

This is a lot to do and as they say, Rome was not built in a day so this will be a nice gradual development project as the years pass by.

I’m now a premium member and hope that as I go through this awesome journey I can contribute and feed of the knowledge to put a childhood dream back on the UK roads.

Cheers,

Adam.

Thanks for supporting the Club Adam and congratulations on your new Z32 adventure! Looking forward

to seeing some pictures.

Reading your post on seatbelts, is the car a UK spec?

Thanks Andrew,
Where dose one start a new project on here? Would it be "Z or Club Pics/Video/Media"??

It's a 1991 TT Auto UK Spec.
