front fogs converted from/ into supplementary dipped beam lights.

this is a little Q , please, to those MOT testers out there or those who have made this mod.

Assume the lenses are clear and the bulbs are lower watt than std on the front fogs (at the bottom of the bumper, you know the ones) .....is there a reason why I cannot take the wire off the fog light switch and re-attach to the running lights switch so they work in tandem with the side lights/ low beam.

The result would obv be ON at 1st click giving four front lights , ON at 2nd click giving four front lights, OFF when high beam is selected.

Its a Jap import so this job it quite straight forward.

oooh and do not concern your self with the rear fog.

Cheers in advance(fingers crossed).

Surely what you want is obtained with a push down on the pod fog light switch

Therefore a turn on the headlight dial will do nothing as these are already on, position 2 will turn on your dipped

If you wire them in with your sidelights you will lose control/options - don't see why it will be a MOT fail

For one it would be illegal, and you'll get fined by traffics for improper use of your front fogs!

Might have to wait for a tester to come on and confirm that Lee, could well be a new 'grey area', with the advent these days of every car having DRL's, thinking a pull from plod might not happen as it perhaps would of 5 years ago without fail :glare:

In my area the local pods would definitely pull you for having them on during the day or night if there not needed!

same here :-( front fogs on when its not foggy is a deffinate pull and fine by the rozzers

Yeah, I don't think its a good idea either, however you might be able to get away with it if they are driving lights but you would have to read up on their setup and regulations.

Me personally, I hate people driving around the streets with front driving or fog lights on, too glary and chav, shows lack of consideration for others just for looks... :tt2:

not meant to offend, just my opinion.

Not an MOT failure as they would be classed as additional/optional lamps which are not testable.

The problem you will have though is that the police work to construction & use regulations, its a fog light so they are likely to class it as such. If you put in a low enough wattage bulb you may just get away with it as long asit's clear the lamp is unlikely to dazzle oncoming traffic. ( more chance of a ticket though :) )

i fail to see the point you already have a bulb that does that in there. i relocated my sidelights into the indicator housings.

well two things.. one being that I want the switch for the rear fog alone (its an import) and I need a switch. and two, did some just go ahead and give answer without reading I am lowering the wattage of the bulbs???

We could say you didn't give full details of what you was proposing

If you want a low wattage H3 bulb I would recommend something like these

I have some in on my sig pic and they do look nice and white, however they do not give off much of a beam so sound like ideal for what you're looking for...a sidelight H3 :thumbup1:

That is what I would do personally - pop in the H3 LEDs but instead of them being lower wattage headlight supplements, they would be more like daytime running lights!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
