My front washer jets constantly clog up with crap.

Have recently noticed though that the rear washer always works fine.

Not sure on the setup of these but I assume they are fed from the same washer bottle so confused as to why the fronts clog yet the rear is fine?

Cheers.

rear don't get as much use, or the fact that you do the fronts first, hence the algae in the bottle gets agitated around, so when you do the rears they don't clog.

You are right Dean:slap: Its only in the back (had to go out and check)and non in the front:blushing:

there is however an auxiliary pump

do you live in a hardwater area? could be scaling up on the nozles. as said try giving it a damn good flush oyut with some fresh boiled water.

There could be a load of gunk in the bottom of the reservoir - so my first thought would be to fill with boiling water and just run the washers until empty!!

It's a bit gung-ho but easier than dismantling the washer bottle and associated pipework!! As for hard water - I live in a hard water area myself but I have never had this problem - but then I only buy ready-mixed screenwash for all my cars so they never get filled from the tap.....

Good muck mate,

Richard:thumbup1:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

LWB has the one bottle at the front and SWB has two one front and in the boot.I would give the bottle and pipes a good clean with boiling water to shift all the grime and see if that works.

Where is the bottle for the SWB in the front?? I always thought it was just the bottle in the back...

I live in a nice soft water area, it's algae like crap as others have described.

Will try the boiling water and see how that goes.

It can't be that hard to get the bottle out and do it outside of the car then stick it back in and flush the pipes with hot water with the nozzles disconnected under the bonnet

Are we on about that black bit on the top of the bodywork above the light?

I'm 99% sure I dont have that!

Why would they not put the washer bottle in the front of the car on the SWB? Bearing in mind that the cars are essentially the same up to the back of the doors

i thought the washer problem is caused by blocked up one way valves just before the jets i replaced mine with halfords generic ones and was better still not great.

Is yours SWB? If so:

-Open boot.

-Remove the big plastic screw from the inside centre panel on the passenger side.

-Remove the cover of the passenger side rear light and remove the screw holding the panel.

-Pull the carpet back.

-Follow the bottom edge around and there are 2-3 10mm nuts to remove.

-Get your fingers in under the boot seal above the washer bottle and grab the panel in the hole where the rear light access is, gentle pull it away toward the centre of the boot. There is a clip holding the panel next to the water bottle on the inside, you are trying to disconnect this.

-With that removed you can see all the bolts holding the water bottle in place. Remove them, disconnect the water pipe and push the rubber filler tube down through.

-I would use something like bleach in hot water and shake the bottle to loosen all the algae. If you have a flexible wire brush you can shove inside that would be good.

-Rinse thoroughly.

-I would then replace the bottle, fill it, disconnect the washers at the splitter under the bonnet and flush a load of water through to clear anything lurking in the pipe so it doesn't get into the washer jets again.

-Put it all back together

Should take an hour tops, if you need pictures ask but it's all pretty obvious once you get started:biggrin:

Just to keep harping on about this,

to everyone with a washer bottle in the rear, do you have a slicktop or targa SWB?

Targa swb mate with rear bottle.Do you think slicktop is different?

Well I know mine has a front bottle... lol and its a slicktop... I was actually hoping slickpete would be lurking somewhere as I'm sure he will know.

After having a poke around on the internet it would appear that the verts have a front bottle as well. Really weird!

Mines a Targa bud, do you have any sign there was a filler hole in the back of yours at any point?
