Hi guys,

I've been real busy at work lately so some of the tweaks still need to be done so please bare with me its still on the cards.

As far as the rides section goes at the time of upgrade the current version of the rides wasn't compatable with this version of vbulletin.

Good news is it now IS !!!

I've posted a notice in committee discusions so that we can arrange, test and properly install and import all the rides section again as it was !

And with a whole load of new features the new system comes with.

So again bare with us and i'll try get it all going again shortly.

Thanks

Lee

Great work Lee and appreciate all the work you have put in mate.

As much as we all like a poll I think in this occasion it's now pointless !

Firstly the idea of rolling back to the older version is an option we simply cannot do.

The decision to upgrade the software was well over due and wasn't done light heartily either !

The main reason for the forum update wasnt to give us better features but was to do with system security and the protection of our member base information stored on the 300zx.co.uk's servers.

Over the years since vBulletins creation it has become a very well known forum software and also it's become a target of its own success with many security issues relating to older versions.

As the older version will soon be no longer supported security of our system could eventually be compromised and that is a risk we just could not take.

Before full launch of this new version we had a test system running for over two weeks to ensure it was running the way we thought would be satisfactory to everyone but we decided to launch the upgrade early due to seeing some strange activity on our so called private test system.

All I can say is even though we launched early we quickly got through most of the serious bugs within the first 24 hours and the smaller ones within a week later.

Now I know we lost some features but this was mainly because the software was so out of date that the modules or addons we had running were no longer supported so we lost the functionality.

Good news is we're more than likely to get the rides section *back with it being even more packed with great features and we will also soon be able to get full android and ios apps customised for our club available on each mobile platform for free!

Now - to conclude !

We take all feedback seriously and any comment made will be treated fairly however I must stress as a club we want to keep your information secure and doing that means we cannot role back at any point to the older version.

I hope this is now understood and everyone is in agreement that it was done solely to enhance our system security and prevent any future security breaches.

Top man Lee!

As said i like the new format. If the rides section and search function are sorted, its spot on!

Its a bit like the whole evolution of the Fairlady Z series

When the 260 came out the 240guys weren't that keen and when the 280ZX (not to be confused with the 280Z) both sets of owner hated it

guess what when the Z31 come out all the previous models owners said "that's not a Z as it has not got scalloped light pods"

The Z32 came out and every body said nice car but not in line with the series as it is far to expensive (£36000 approx) and the normal punter will never afford one

The 350 come out and most previous Fairlady owners including the Z32 ones say don't like it "looks to much like an AudiTT"

then to cap it all the 370 comes out and a lot of people say its far to big don't like it

Change happens and things move on and normally for the better

After a short time people get used to change as they find things that were not there before

Big thumbs to JaiKai for what you have achieved so far on the switch over and look forward to more of the items that are available on VB4

I want the trendy yellow and red one back! bbtitle5.jpg :w00t:

Blast from the the past forgot all about that

It's a pretty early one but don't know if it was the first. AndyP pre-dates me (in fact he pre-dates just about everyone hoho - excuse me for the unjustifiable personal slander :D )

Hmmm, I think I'd be right in saying it's only slander if it's untrue !

But, yes, I think that was the first 'real' logo we had and I suspect either Craig or a mate of his created it.
