well there are other markers with the belt and some tip-x that some ones done and thay all align up too

all connections to the PTU/Maf are spotless

yes i have had the ecu out but it was the same before tuching it ..

only had it out due to Rechipping it but thats all the same still with new injectors

its starting to worrie me now that there is a problem with the engine

Just that Boldy had a misfire and we took off the Ecu plug and re-seated it and solved it.Doesn't take much to bugger the connection up.Worth a look?

Well just to throw this out there, the PTU connections might be fine, but the PTU itself might be fubarred! The connections came loose on mine last week while I was in london and the car still ran, but the passenger side was lumpy as hell! and the car sounded like it literally had bolts in the cylinders, it also wouldn't rev above 3000 revs, all of what you're describing sounds exactly like what happened to me.

Once I plugged the PTU back in, it ran sweet as a nut! I've been told PTUs tend to just die, no warning whatsoever. Can you swap that with a known good one?

BOOT NOTE: I'm also told when swapping a PTU, take your battery off!

oh ... i never disconected the batt ...:crying:

any one got a S2 PTU to sell me

its the Black one

hi mate when i changed my engine it had what seemed like a misfire played with everything ended up being one of the lower turbo pipes the big one that goes right to the front thats a bit of a pig to get on lol.

Hopeu sort get it sorted.

Have you checked that the ECU plug is not too tight? Sometimes these can be over tightened and cause all sorts of problems.

my pipes were ok just wasnt on properly right down at the front.

When they dont rev past 3000rpm normally maf, was thinking if you had air leak bad enough may not pull the air past the maf give you similar problem,

nightmare cars lol.

ecu is fine i have checked it twice and the connections are clean .. plus this fault was there with diffrent injectors and new ..

but what is making me thing

when my engine went bang oil pump stopped working and made the engine very very Hot ..

i'm not just thinking it could be the ptu

i would also say possibly maf. or a loose connection sum where. might be worth having jeff have a quick look at it he isnt too far from you.

I'd say it sounds a lot like PTU to me tbh, surely someone lives near you with a PTU you could test just to make sure? Mines an S1, or I'd drive down to Derby for ya, lol.

Does it seem like the middle cylinder on the passenger side is just not firing? If you stand behind the car while it's idling, is the drivers side exhaust smooth and the passenger side, rough but in a predictable and routine manor? If so, sounds EXACTLY like when my PTU became disconnected. Another thing for me, was if I did try to force it over 3000 revs, it backfired a LOT!

i get a pop from drivers but mainly on passenger side ..

yep pop pop bang bang smell of fuel

I would defo being looking at the MAF or connections, or at least the mixture, as I've had similar problems with other cars in the past. It sounds like the engine is getting too much, or too little air. This is all based on non turbo knowledge. never had a turbo :( , but could help... Maybe look at the TPS too, but don't think that's the prob, but you never know....

Good luck mate, shame the PTU didn't fix it, but at least you have a spare now in case it does go wrong.

seems to be that everything has changed but the maf. i really think you should change that, or at least do a quick test on it.

Have you tried a boost leak check.

Also have you checked all the plugs on the right hand side around balance bar.

Air regulator and injector plug are really simillar.

and think the knock sensor and 02 are too.
