Damn! So the tiny bit of weight saving I have done so far will all be lost when I fit my coilovers :headvswal

Will have to do the canister and AIV removal to make up for it :)

anyone know the weight of standard shock with spring ? Have one handy to weigh ?

Im sure I have weighed some in the past, but no idea where I wrote it down.

I'll weigh one up for you tomorrow mate if nobody has it to hand.

leo why dont you pop outside with a magnet. then you will know for sure. mine weighs about as much as a fag paper. anyone worked out how much the stock leccy seats weigh?

Damn! Gets worse  I have electric drivers and passenger seats which are heated aswell!

Remus is your car the yank version ..it seems to have "gone large" on everything mate ....

 What can I say " I like them big!!" I wouldn't mind if I had the turbos to pull it

I have to agree the stock bonnet on my 90 is light as a feather, can lift it with my little finger and have to drop it from quite high if I want it to close properly without having to push it down after it's latched. I've just got a set of second hand Teins from Mikey and they are bleeding heavy, don't have stock suspension on mine at the moment to compare though, what's on there is just lowered race suspension I think.

I like you Yowser. I do. but I'm gunna pick at your post. (mostly cost I have an hour t kill.) i know you like a good correspondence so lets have it.. haha.

Stock kerb weights are :

TT Stock Kerb Weights (Manual)

Slicktop - 1510 kg

SWB - 1540 kg

LWB - 1590 kg

NA Stock Kerb Weights (Manual)

Slicktop - 1430kg

SWB - 1460 kg

LWB - 1510 kg

Auto is approx 15kg heavier than Manual

Weight will differ for UK/Jspec (oil coolers..etc) and depending on spec (elec seats..etc)

I have stripped down my slicktop to 1350kg, while retaining Interior and insulation. Thats a good 250kg lighter than the average Zed (or the same as 3 Big blokesermm no. given ave is 85kgs for a male so..)

I have weighed everything I have removed/replaced.

Rounded up to nearest kg.(bearing this in mind my good man!)Front

Aircon removed (Pump, Bracket, Radiator, Condenser, pipes, Fan) – 15kg

EGR removed – 2kg

AIV removed – 3kg

Carbon Canister removed – 3kg(I have kicked one of these like a dropped rugby ball. and 3 KG would have broke my foot. lets say 1.5KG)Lightweight Crank pulley fitted – 4 kg

Cruise control removed -1kg

Hicas solenoid and piping Removed – 3kg

NA Pas Pump and Bracket – 3kg(just curious. are you now totally un-PAS?)Battery moved to boot – 16kg

Lightweight flywheel – 7kg

SS Turbo elbows and down pipes – 11kg

Fog lights removed – 2kg(ooh c'mon... what were you.. a light house!.hehehe. plus you need them in UK)70kg loss

Centre

Lightweight seats fitted – 23kg(I went to go down this path also, but rear seat are pure foam. the metal plate is thin and light. I'd question this saving)Lightweight Prop shaft – 7kg

30kg loss

Rear

Spare wheel removed – 15kg(do you carry a can of punture weld?was the spare alloy or steel?)Nissan Tools removed – 2 kg

Tailgate weight removed – 2kg(hmmmm. no way 2 kg.)Spoiler removed – 7 kg( as others have suggested. this is massive. was the spoiler a small shed?)Rear Wiper & Motor removed – 2kg

Cargo blind removed – 2kg( a peice of fabric 1.2 X 1.6m)NA Rear subframe & Diff – 35kg

Lightweight Battery fitted in boot + 6kg

Rear speakers – 2kg(raised eye brow)60kg loss

160kg total loss

Wheels, Suspension Components and brakes not weighed yet.

An important considering with weigth reduction is to maintain or improve on the stock weight distribution. (if you used individual weigh pads per wheel you'd find the weight 'all over the shop'.I might suggest a person think if they drive alone to reduce weight on the drivers side.. but really, makes little diff in reality. Your theory is not reality. No it isn't. ... it isn't)

You're cool. but... your scales are shot, matey.

Stock bonnet is aluminium and very light - lighter than CF bonnets.

Your guessing and have made a lot of mistaken presumptions, whereas I have weighed everything with a set of digital hanging scales.

I like you Yowser. I do. but I'm gunna pick at your post. (mostly cost I have an hour t kill.) i know you like a good correspondence so lets have it.. haha.

Carbon Canister removed – 3kg (I have kicked one of these like a dropped rugby ball. and 3 KG would have broke my foot. lets say 1.5KG)

As with all my measurements, they include everything removed that was associated with the item. In this case thats the Carbon cannistor, all the metal pipelines, vacumn lines, brackets and bolts.

NA Pas Pump and Bracket – 3kg(just curious. are you now totally un-PAS?)

No, that means I removed the TT PAS Setup, and fitted the NA pas setup and that is the weight difference.

(ooh c'mon... what were you.. a light house!.hehehe. plus you need them in UK)

No you dont need front foglights in the UK, only rear fog lights.

(I went to go down this path also, but rear seat are pure foam. the metal plate is thin and light. I'd question this saving)

This is saving from removing the front seats and fitting lightweight bucket seats.

Front electric seat is 28kg

Front manual seat is 18kg

My car is a SWB it never had rear seats.

(do you carry a can of punture weld?was the spare alloy or steel?)

Currentkly nothing but I will carry Foam puncture weld, like many modern high performance cars.

Tailgate weight removed – 2kg(hmmmm. no way 2 kg.)

That probably includes the rear wiper motor that I removed with it, and forgot to list seperatly. Weighed with a set of digital hanging scales

Cargo blind removed – 2kg( a peice of fabric 1.2 X 1.6m)

Its far more than just a piece of fabric. The entire plastic housing and the roller inside too. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45222&stc=1&d=1227984904

Spoiler removed – 7 kg( as others have suggested. this is massive. was the spoiler a small shed?)

You will find that the other person that commented on that was joking in agreement of how heavy the things are.

The stock spoilers absorb water over the years and become very heavy.

Standard oem Shocks and Springs:

Front 4kg each

Rear 4.5kg each

This was on a set of digital bathroom scales, so they may be a slight +/- error.

haha yes, Yowser . I knew you were cool. (presumptions.. no.. questions..yes. curious)

The seat saving is worthy. I have the motor version and have not moved it since finding a setting. so why lug the motors around? why do we?Why?

Rear 4.5kg each

Ive got a set of Meister R coilovers at the unit which i admit seem alot lighter than my Buddy club and JIC coilovers were.

No longer have the Buddy club coilovers but i just weighed the JIC which weigh

Front 4.7kg

Rear 5.2kg

My Buddy club coilovers by memory felt alot heavier so im guessing it all depends on type and brand just my 2p worth.

Well, it seems my steel bonnet is quite a rarity! :tt2:

But I am in no doubt that the bonnet is heavy - however, in the interests of science, when I finall yget home (and if my car hasn't been posted to Jimmer) I will indeed check with a magnet. Thing is - I remember opening the bonnet pretty much every time I drove the car (sometimes I didn't even get to drive it :crying:) and I remember it feeling, er.. not light. Even I'm beggining to question what it is made of now - but I'll stand by my guns for the time being. It doesn't fit very well either, but this may because my chassis is twisted from the incident which required the bonnet to be replaced!!

And the bonnet needs a respray - sounds like the perfect time to replace it to me!!

whoooooo i have 2 manual seats. 20k saved without doing anything. so that cancels out my sound system

my bonnet is also really light :)

agreed on the seats thing ive not moved mine since i first set it. i like the option but its such a heavy waste of power. plus replacing them with agood set of buckets will probally be cheaper than second hand oem or having them refurbed.
