FAO our TLO - possible group buy on brake kits?!

Hi,

I have been looking at different options for brake kits & do not really want to spend the sort of costs of the K Sport / D2 kits as will only be using it on the road & have found a trader doing Wilwood calipers with Brembo discs & fittings who is a trader on SXOC

He has a range of options of brake upgrades & has recently done a group buy on SXOC & can supply kits for the Z32 at a similar price if we can do a GB on here.

Heres the thread on SXOC: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=489807

Any thoughts on if we can try to set this up?! :)

Paul

I did look at this option but the problem is most of these calipers are getting on a bit now & by the time you allow for a rebuild & a set of decent pads & discs you are looking at the cost of a new brake kit!!

I think they are quite overpriced for a second hand pair of calipers!

The seals and piston will still deteriorate over time mate regardless of the make.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

They dont look bad at all! The only thing I would say is that traditionally willwood calipers have been expensive/hard to get pads for... However this seems not to be the case with this group buy!

I have some D2's, which i got for less than £600 but I was lucky as they were on an auction on ebay... I went down the brembo route (both skyline and evo routines) Basically I came to the conclusion that it was the same money if not more to buy 10 year old+ calipers than brand new kits from D2/K Sport/Wilwood etc.

If you could get some evo brembos for £100 (which I did, skyline brembos often £300+) You have to buy:

Pads: £100

Disks: £200 at least

Lines: £50

Brackets, need making £50 - £100

Rebuild kit (if you can find them!) is £80 a caliper from memory (£160 in total)

= £660.... for something you have to mess with.

This is exactly my point - nearly 10 years ago when I got my zed GT-R brembos were THE upgrade to get, this was when big brake kits were a small fortune & the calipers were from cars only a few years old or so - they were around £500 back then & people are still paying the same price now!

For not much more you can get a pair of wilwoods, brackets, fast road pads & brembo discs with braided hoses to attach them!!

Now the company selling them did say the calipers are not too much bigger than standard but with them being brand new & with larger 345mm discs they should be an excellent upgrade for most people out there & around £300 cheaper than D2/K-sport kits.

He also does the discs with caliper brackets to mount standard calipers too.

He said if I can get 5+ people then he will do the prices listed on the SXOC thread with kits for our Z32

Anyone interested :)

ps - he can also do K-sports for £870 on a GB too.

The thread also shows a thundering brembo "bigfoot" upgrade - sadly he says they will not fit our cars due to the hub mounting points being slightly different & not enough clearence so ignore those (sadly as they look bloody fantastic!)

How many pistons do the willwood calipers have?

just looking at figures and value

D2 do 356mm as well
