Hey guys,

I am curious even though i prefer the look and style of a 300, i was wondering what you guys think about the 3000gt. I mean head on head which one would win. Spec wise 3000's got 4 wheel drive and the aero system, sounds like it would be a lot faster and able to put all that power onto the road?

If you had a choice would you get a 3000gt twin turbo??

Also how does it compare in part prices etc?

Got one in the road a few doors up. Very neat, black, FMIC, well cared for (parked next to the guy's poopra:rolleyes:

Every time I walk past them coming back from t'shop or t'pub, I think, blimey, that Zed parked a few doors up is a much nicer looking car. :thumbup1:

You mean GTO? I had one manual TT was pretty quick however what i found was the owners and community just wasnt the same when i was trying to get help on the forums. It was quick but i dont think as quick as my TT zed was. In fact now thinking yeah the UK spec is a GT the import is a GTO

Also not many websites for modified parts and brand names that seemed to be associated with GTO`s i wouldnt use on a Jap car

drove a 3000gt ....aeropack is usual a fault area on these and fails due to seizing of the actuators and was just a sales gimmick ....speed wise the zed will beat it ....on the twisties and where it matters for overtaking the zed in my opinion is in a differnt class....it looks better and is not so "halfords" .....others may have a differnt opinion but for me its a zed hands down

So did the 4WD make any difference in the power that was put to the road?

no my zed was still quicker and that was only running about 320. I sold the GTO after 3 months of having it and thats when i got my slicktop :)

I know this car, it resides not too far from where I live. It looks very nice, but for me, a Zed wins hands down for both looks and performance.....

It needs 4wd to haul that heavy ass thing along the road. Acctually looks wise I'd hand it to the GTO, same as the interior.. but the 300 is faster, much faster once tuned a little. They both experience issues, but the 300's are easier to fix on the whole and problems are less frequent.

I think they are all a nice a each other. i love all the top 3 jap motors and i think all are stunning

As a drivers car it would have to be the zed for me. hated the supra. really boring to drive and not much feel.

Not yet had the chance to drive the gto. i would like one but it would have to be the facelift TT

NOw that bit i have to disagree with, i think that the interior of the zed is much nicer - just a shame bout the tweed!

I've heard horror stories about it's manual gear box (made of chocolate)...

no doubt its a nice looking motor and they do go but my mate said that when he owned one the guys on the forum were stand-offish and like it was said above not much in the way of mods.

I've raced a couple and I came out on top... :)

another mate of mine almost bought one but decided against it after doing some research... he went for a 2.5 tt Soarer instead.

GTO interior is fugly compared to the zed and nowhere near as comfy if you're6'2" like me! They both have their ups and down some of which we may not agree about so it's best that you go and drive both. I wouldn't mind having either at this moment in time.:-)

Very underrated car in my opinion, my mate had one and it was fully loaded, really comfy lazy cruiser.

Used to be a fan when I was about 16. But no longer keen on the looks - Exterior or interior.

Driven and worked on a NA and a TT, a decent cruiser but too big and heavy to be chucked around like the Z. Has wet weather grip advantage ofcourse but other than that its a little slower with all the extra weight and 4wd drivetrain losses. Harder to work on than the Z too.

The comparison magazine reviews between it and the Z were very unfavourable to the gto.

he's in the process of doing a hybrid T3 single turbo mod... with uprated intercooler and exhaust... should be nice and quick...

I agree with what Dave says.....

......I do like the 3000GT/GTO; but it would have to be the face lifted version with fixed head lights and the 6 speed 'box, UK spec and fully loaded.

And yes, all the motoring press at the time rated it very poorly compared to the 300zx, RX7, Porsche 968 and Mk4 Supra. UK based road tests put the GT close to the 300zx over 0-60, but by 100 the 300zx was significantly superior......

Richard:cool3:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Oh yeah to change the spark plugs on a GTO you have to get the inlet manifold off! Mitsubishi didnt really think about things like that. Turbos you can do in situ though :)

Yeah changed my mind i am sticking to the Zed, thats the way to go :D. I was reading up on the weight of the car good gracious me it weighs a ton! lol

I own one before my zed, never again bad problems with the ECU's blowing sold mine on

eBay after the auto gearbox blown up, and ecu went bang! Crap cars never again stick with the zed!

Had a gto and a 3000gt,actually think they are a good car and i like the look,my 3000gt had a 6 speed box which im lead to believe is stronger.I think its let down by its pure bulk which makes it a little dull to drive. If im totally honest my 3000gt was a nicer looking car but you couldn't take the roof off and the zed is much better drive.Brother had the gto mr which is rarer and a bit lighter.
