I know it is not a major issue, but does the ignition key double as the rear hatch lock/unlock key or am I missing a key?

If I am missing a key, is it easy enough to get a re-cut or will I have to change the lock it's self?

Hope someone will shed some light.

Thanks, Redwine300

problem being the boot keys never get used as its always the re-lease lever by the seat...get a can of WD40 with a red straw and put the straw past the little flap in the lock and blast a good dollop in there,a bit of key sex on the hole and it should sort it:biggrin:

I WD40'd mine...no difference. Turns out the passenger lock doesn't work either, so I think I've had a new drivers lock and ignition fitted at some point. I haven't got the old key for the passenger and boot locks. Annoying having to open the boot from inside if youre already outside.

Thanks for all the replies guy's,

My initial thoughts are that the lock it's self is playing up.:helpsmilie:

The linkage from the barrel to the release seems free and does not offer any resistance to the key being turned, or should I say attempted to be turned'

I have sprayed quite a lot of wd40 into the lock but the key just about moves.:cursing:

I guess I should leave it over night to soak and try again tomorrow?.

That's some sound advice Bri - I must try that myself as my boot lock is hard to operate. And yup - I always use the lever inside the car!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

From memory it should go a quarter turn to the right and pop open, then return to the centre position

Also, I think the barrel just slides out of the centre panel so should be easier to get it working when it is off the car.

Finally, if the centre panel is not just fit right/bit proud, it will not turn, try depressing in carefully with your palm at the side of the key hole whilst you are trying to turn, HTH.

mine dont work with the key either . i thought it was only the original titanium key that opened the glove box and boot as a security measure . if im wrong on that one im out with the wd40 tomorrow

mines never worked always used the pul cable till the bloody thing snapped in the cold weather fuel light was on as well miles from home ..did i panic....oooooffff

mine doesn't work either! have had the barrel out and cleaned to death, still never worked... not really arsed tho!

Well guy's, having tried all the suggestions, eureka! I finally got the key to turn. It ended up being corrosion on the inner bore that fouled the tiny dogs of the locking mechanism. With plenty of WD40 and some persistent working left to right the pesky corrosion worked free.:taz:

As Phutumsch said, I had to remove the lock so as to scrape away what corrosion I could first. The lock is now packed with a light grease and works great.

I hope this will be of help to others.

mine unlocks from the key however one of my doors only works via the central locking on the alrum.... god knows why il get roubnd to that one day.
