Well, was on the way to the MOT this morning as i was booked in, got to the garage to put some fuel in, and noticed my number plate had fallen off the front after i had mounted it last night.

Anyway, went down the local number plate makers, and realised id forgot my licence, so had to run back home to get it, came out of my drive, got to the mini round about 1/10th of a mile from my home and the old bill pulled in behind me, followed me all the way to the number plate place, and he stopped with me, anyway he pulled me over for not have a plate on the front of the car. after standing there while he checked my details and my car, i explained to him that i was on my way to the MOT and that i lost the number plate and had to get a new one, any way he left me too it, but made me late for the MOT. by the time i had got there they had someone else's car already on the ramps as they thought i was a no show, and ive now had to rebook the damn thing.

pee'ed off isnt the word.

Since ive changed the bumper last year, didnt get stopped once for having the number plate in the window, and get pulled the day of the damn MOT so end up missing it.

Yeah, but it's funny that if your car get's stolen you never hear from them again. I'm still waiting for them to let me know what's happening about the Corsa that got nicked 6 year ago.

well at least they didnt book you, i spun out on some deaseil next toa bus stop and bent some bits whilst i was waiting for the rac the old bill came along moan at me i explained what had happened the box had dropped a gear i hit the oil and spun out quicker than quick. to which they replied if you want to contest it you can go to court and issued me a £60 fine and 3 points which have put my insurance up by about 200 a year atm. i pointed out the massive rubber mark where the car had rgained traction and he told me im lucky im not being booked for the other rear tyre because its borderline. common sense didnt tell him they were probally both borderline and taht rubber belonged to that trye. with gauges out of it across the width. not happy. 2 years to go nopw till i have a clean license again :(

That really really sucks. I hate the rozzers. Was driving up to Newcastle couple of yrs back to collect a car for Marc, some ass in a black BMW 5 series was driving right up my chuff as I came off a bend in the outside lane so as he passed i gave him the finger and w@nker signal only to have him put his bloody blues and twos on - unmarked vehicle! T0sser!!!

the police dont do themselves any favours as far as likeability goes do they

There's good and bad in every walk of life - most of the police probably do a pretty good job; but there are the "jobsworth" types that ruin it for everyone.

About 3 years ago whilst on hols in the Isle of Wight, I got a bit pee'd off dawdling along at 30 in a 60 behind some old giffer in a Skoda. So at the first clear and safe opportunity I nailed it past the car in front (who couldn't be bothered to overtake) and the Skoda.

I didn't actually break the speed limit, there was nothing coming the other way and, even though I was approaching a slight bend, it was in my favour view-wise so I could see a few hundred yards down the road that all was clear.

It didn't stop the local plod from pulling me, breathalyzing me and giving me the third degree about how dangerous overtaking could me. I wasn't in the ZX at the time; it was my SLK350 - still a very fast car more than capable of overtaking safely with a good margin for error.

The young copper was such a cocky little shit, so as I'd done nothing wrong, I was only too happy to point out he was wrong on a number of counts. The older of the two had a bit more sense - he had sat quiet for 10 minutes then decided enough was enough. He told the young gobshite he'd had his moment, that I'd done nothing wrong so it was about time to let me go. The older fella apologized for wasting my time and wished me a nice holiday!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

they should be booking the olg "giffer" as you put it for driving without due care and consideration to other road users. there all for banging you witha ticket for going 10% over the limit but hardly any tickets go out to people holding up a half mile long traffic que because theyre not prepared/capable to do the speed limit.

There are lots of people that show no interest at all in overtaking and they do my head in :gun_bandana:

Why would you be happy at travelling much slower than you would like for mile after mile after mile, and these people travel close to the 'slow' vehicle which makes it a very long vehicle for overtaking and therefore you are forced to floor it to get round and through briskly, in a van this is not always possible

i just drove a few miles down the dual carraige way at 70 undertaking everyone now thats illogical

But not illegal, as the highway code stipulates that the only time you are allowed to undertake is if the traffic in the out side lanes are moving slower than you (obviously when you are with in the speed limit)

correct :D people seem to forget the outside lane is actually an over taking lane not "the fast lane"

Correct mate, there is actually no such thing as a fast lane, it drives me bonkers listening to someone spout about fast lanes, all lanes allow everyone to travel at the permitted speed limit!!!!

I have to admitt though, it helps when your grandfather was a chief inspector in the police force......

please don't have a go at me for this, he retired in 1961, 3 years before I was born!!!! Upon asking him later in life why he retired when he did, his answer to me was this....

"see this photograph, that's me taking delivery of one of the first police cars in Lancashire". Now this shocked me because I didn't know that my grandfather could drive, he never owned a car, and as far as I was concerned, he never had a license, he walked everywhere.

He went on to say that the police force would go down hill once officers just drive around in cars, technically you lost your beat bobby that everyone knew.

I can remember walking into town with my grandfather in Blackburn, and a 20 minute/half an hour walk took around an hour and a half, because everyone knew him, and stopped him for a chat, and he was a chief inspector, how many on here can name their local bobby, yet alone the chief inspector? The day of my grandads' funeral, everyone was out on their doorsteps paying their last respects to a true gentleman and very fair copper........

By the way, he was also a major in the army during the war, he was on Montgomery's staff, and I have letters here actually singed by Monty himself.....lol....:wheelchair:
