Im not normally one for posts like this but after the last few days i cant contain my rant any longer,Ive taken an engine in from a guy who recently parted with 5k to a now defunct Wiltshire based zed specialist. He waited 8 months to get it back and it lasted 700 miles before it developed a rattle. The problem was soon apparent after i got the sump off,no 3 main bearing has seized and welded itself to the crankshaft,so the block and crank is scrap as its ground the cradle and block away.Told the guy i could rebuild the internals into a good s,hand block to save him money.Well stripped most of it tonight and what i found boiled my piss.Re used inlet and plenum gaskets pooped up with silicone, pcv pipes swapped with chopped up rubber hose, asbestos headgaskets when he paid for cometics, and the best is no 3 bore was looking badly scored after so say doing 700miles.After taking the piston out i was astounded.Half the scraper ring is missing and by the looks of the damage to the forged piston it got forced up the side and sat there grinding the bore away. The pistons are battered and tired and have covered way more miles going by the blow by marks up the sides. So for his 5k the guy has a pair of big tubs, some nismo 555 injectors and what looks to be a 60k service kit, bargain eh.He read me a list of parts it had on his invoice,ARP head bolts, cometic gaskets, eagle rods etc.Its all utter ******x.I feel really sorry for the bloke as i now have to tell him he needs to part with 2k to fix it.Hes tried to contact the wan*er that sold him the pile of shit but guess what?? yeh you guessed it,no longer recognised.if someone had done that to me he wouldnt be recognised thats for sure,I hope his fuc*in wheels fall off the robbing c**t.I just pray we have seen the last of fly by night chancers like these who yank peoples pants down to get on in life

Not often is the "C" word more apt than in a case like this! Feel for the bloke who's been screwed over.

W%nkers hope they rot in hell, been in this situation myself it sucks

Ah man that is awful! Must be bad enough for you to have to break the bad news to your customer! I'm sure There isnt anyone better than your self to put it right though!

I suppose its the risk you take with trusting exotica to people, wiltshire being in the south west of the country, am I going the right way? :(

FFS, so many horror stories.

Was this done by the original owner that upset so many customers, or the "new and improved" owner that claimed to be turning the companies reputation around ?

that is just disgusting........i hope he contracts a really horrible slow painful disease that makes bits shrivell and fall off ..........been in a similar situation ....cost me thousands to put right ..plus the thousands i had ripped off from me

Sad to see Jimmer mate, plenty others out there just like it too!

Sadly i think it matters not being the 1st owner or the newest owner of that business, both owners have ended up down the same path of destroying a persons love and respect for their Zed not to mention serious damage to their bank balance

Seeing as this guy got some form of a receipt, I can hazard a guess it was the latest owner of that business who done the work, that being his attempt at turning the previous business around to new and improved lol

I just don't know how people can look at someone knowing they've ripped them off. Unfortunelty it happens in ever trade in life, just no honestly left (apart from the rare few) :(

Totally agree, i don't know how these people sleep at night, they are scum. My ex boyfriend used to rip people off in this way, fixing boats, not that I knew that when I was dating him. He was pure scum too. Poor customers, its not fair bresking people's trust

:cowboy: Barstewards, string them up by the b****. No on second thoughts, put them in a locked room with all the people they have ripped off, see if they come out unrecogniseable, I'm so sure they would........:cowboy:....very apt Jeff

Same thing happened to me, by the same company (lol), and the same guy. £2000 for basically an oil change, after he told me that my internal oil ports had blocked inducing a tapping noise. Long story short, tapping was an over tightened cam belt tensioner that was found in 2 minutes by a real mechanic.

Personally I would love 2 minutes with this W*#"er and over tighten his head!!!!

i know what im going to do if i ever get my 15 stone on that oxygen thief who ripped me off ......strangely enough even when i went to mums house where he was supposed to be staying to get my evil on his ass ..guess what ......not there ...just another pack of lies.....was even more fuming on the long drive back home .....but i KNOW our paths will cross at some point and when they do ...............really feel for the bloke Jimmer but im sure he will get some payback some time ......im a firm believer in what comes around goes around .......his car is in great hands now he should take comfort in that like i have with Jeff

awww nightmare, i would keep any work within the club. at least there's trust and loads of history on our guys work :-)

I would just like to thank all you guys and gals on this forum. I have never met Jeff or his collegues from ZedWorld, nor have I ever been to ZedWorld (yet), but after talking with Jeff on here, and all the stories you guys and gals can quote, I know I would never take my Z to anyone else. And that's all thanks to you all, I would not have had any clue who to trust with my pride and joy and would no doubt ended up with a horror story of my own. So cheers everyone................:thumbup1:

That's very bad news Jimmer - I've also seen some evidence of such "handiwork" and all I can say, is it's a good thing the car's owner has now brought his ZX to you mate.

Richard:surrender:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Plenty of people like that ripping customers off.

I remember a guy that came into us with a classic old Mercedes convertable, had his car restored & bodywork was amazing. He had the engine rebuilt by a "specialist" & had travelled down to our way as he was on his way to the Canne Film Festival (he was a movie director). Got to us & the engine was knocking badly. He left it with us & I stripped the engine down & cofirmed the big end shells were trashed along with the crank.

Whoever had rebuilt it had just randomly fitted the end caps to various con rods LOL!! The shells had spun & trashed the journals!! They had even marked the caps themselves to identify them & fitted them all over the place!! Guess the apprentice had a go at rebuilding it that day LOL!

We get all sorts of repairs coming in to us to be fixed properly!! Yesterday had a front strut where the fixing to hold the strut top on was just cross threaded half way down & came in with a knocking noise!

got ripped off last year myself im ashashe dto say ive given up the comapny still exists but i really just cant do anything anymore :(

It was the second owner who promised to turn the business around mate, seems him and his brother were very much alike.Born with no scruples the pair of them.

ive spent 15k on my big engine rebuild, whilst it was getting done i read many horror stories like this about other garages,, a daily driver and one year on ive still a warrantee with them. over 500bhp and still smiling

glad i went with someone known in the club and i advise anyone one to do the same, make sure that person is well known incase of any comebacks. always look at who elses engine theyve done..
