Just thought i'd post a couple of pics of the interim install on my Slicktop. I will update the amp and sub at a later date as and when funds permit. The amp is running the sub and also the Hertz co axials up-front. I also have JL components in the rear Bose boxes. The amp cover and false floor are still to be carpeted, and i'll probably cover the sub as well, most likely in acoustic cloth.

When i do upgrade i shall build a box (maybe 2) out of 18mm MDF that'll be scribed to fit in the corners taking a 10" sub. This will do for now though and if the spare is needed its a case of unscrewing the two wires from the sub then just lifting that out along with the two sections of false floor. Simples!

The false floor has to be cut into two sections as the SWB boots are wider at the bottom than the top! I shall probably add a layer of memory foam underneath too.

Massive Thanks to Steve (cybernet) who donated the amp/sub during his garage clearance whilst moving house. Cheers fella :thumbup1:

Hey Daffy, looking good there.

You should consider a job as a carpenter mate!

Looking forward to seeing the finished job.

All these words are gobbledegook to me I'm afraid... can't stand ICE but I do appreciate the work that goes into the installs, and yours looks like a top job :thumbup1:

Cheers guys. I love my sounds almost as much as i love my Zed. I know not alot about how either works but i can do the carpentry stuff okay. When it's all carpeted it'll be a proper stealth install which is what i'm after. Until i turn it up that is!! Nothing better than driving a super nice car whilst listening to some top tunage IMO. Love it:rockon:

Trance and dubstep eh? I'm quite into soulfull house but am going through a bit of a minimal phase at the mo. That said, the xx album and the drums latest are sounding good right now. And when it comes to showcasing how good the set-up is sounding you can't beat a bit of Dire Straits. Telegraph Rd sounds awesome, but that might mean i'm old before my time!!

Finally got round to carpeting the falsefloor and amp cover. Here it is finished. Hope you like, sounds awesome. The Hertz components up front are sounding better and better, true what they say about improving with use.

fancy making anotherone for mine, that looks awsome

Not a problem if you're serious mate. I can just use mine as a pattern for the floor, and the cover is simples anyhow. I wouldn't bother with the quadrant though if i did another. Some of those velcro pads are strong enough and give you more options, i went overboard. I'll get round to covering that part of mine which is uncovered one day!!

Thanks chaps.

Daff, if YOUR serious, then i would be interested in getting a boot build. i have LWB though and would be looking to do a really basic setup accross the back of the back seats (where you have your rectangle shaped bit in your build) Just looking for an enclosure which hugs the shape of the trim and then comes flush with the edge of the trim where the sstandard speakers are. looking for an enclosure 4 6x9s linked to an amp possibly.

I would be looking to leave the larger/wider area of the boot alone as that is where my golf clubs go. :euro:

What do you reckon?

By the way yours spot on and of a very high standard.

Cheers mate. If you are at Andy's at the weekend and not having a lads night in watching Shane Ward clips on youtube whilst listening to his latest album I could pop over and have a look/see what you're after. Doesn't sound like it'd be a problem.

Thats seriously nice work there !

How do you go about making a template so you can get such a good fit ?

Use your boot carpet as a template fella. Whilst it's in situ make a note of where it fits snug/loose to the trim and allow for this when you lay it on your MDF sheet. Then you can offer it into the boot and it should be somewhere near perfect. It's really quite a simple process, but because of the shape looks a whole lot more complicated than it is. Don't forget to leave a gap of about 5mm all round for when you cover with carpet. I took the carpet down and around the edge to help with damping where MDF meets plastic trim. HTH. The 'amp' cover is just basic carpentry, form the rectangle, but allow to round the corners so it follows the 'tray' shape that shorties have.

 yeah i will be there on Sunday - i dont trust staying there on Saturday night again or we will inevitably end up getting smashed at the local meat market and not get any work done till lunch the next day!

you popping over then?

That is so simple - but fecking genius - i was wondering how i would do it myself and never even thought of the carpet!

I know mate, it's simples really. Sometimes it's just too obvious a solution!! If you're handy with a jigsaw you will be able to do it. Now all I need is Craig to see how simple it is and that's 2 jobs I've done myself out of!!! I should be able to pop over Sunday chap.
