Hi.

Just went to fit them to my car there as i have my bumper on.

Tho, the connector on my car and the one on the 99lights are completely different. Phoned up from the company i got them from and was advised i would need an adapter or some kind of different loom? I was pritty sure these lights should just be plug and play, does anybody know of problems like this or where to get and adapter loom or what i may require?

cheers

Craig

My trade was as an instrument tech so electrical stuff kind of goes over my head.lol

Me too! Easy job to do :)

IF you want to come and do it for me lee feel free.lol!

just checked the light insert there lee.......its only got the plug, and no cables, The connector and bulb are all one unit(greeny colour) and theres no cables exposed.......hmmm.lol

Craig i know what your on about, the plug for your light holder has 4 lugs on it in a square formation, the indicator housing for the 99spec has 3 lug holes in a triangle formation. only way to do it, is cut the lugs off and glue the bloody thing in, but before you do that, i suggest changing the bulbs to LED's as they last a lot longer.

same lol, i just left my UK spec indicators in for now till i can figure out a way of doing it so my indicators are on the outside, then i can get some inter cooler ducts from car.mad as i don't have the wiring for front fog lights (wish i did).

aaaah, i thought you meant the standard bulb holder into the 99spec indicator socket (with out unplugging it from the loom)

thats photos i took there to show my problem. pritty annoying so it is as you cant cut any wires and solder anything etc due to the connector on the lights.

any ideas anybody?

I don't see why you cannot get the small female spade connectors onto your new lights to generate the two wires off, then at the other end of them again use small male connectors to join into the car plug.

the plastic connector case is solid on the 99spec lights, i dont want to be braking that to try and get into the wires. Tho the indicator side is only showing 2 wires, positive and negative car loom is positive negativ and earth.

Anybody got say an adapter cable that would go in?

Aaah ha. Craig the answer to all your problems is either this

The 1995 Nissan Maxima side indicator has exactly the same connector as the Z32 99spec indicator lights. If you cut the Maxima connectors off, and also your 1990 loom connectors and splice them, then you'll have a conversion cable using all Nissan plugs and connectors.

Thanks alot mate!! i owe you a pint.

Fired an e-mail off to them about which shipping option to take, so hopefully get them before i have to drive to zedworld and then i just need to look at cutting into the loom.

See about getting the connectors that splice into the loom with out the need for cutting it, that way you can keep your original connector on it as well. its like a little blue thing with a cutting metal in it and it folds over, then you just press it together and it splices the line and bridges the two wires. then just heat shrink some heat shrink over it to keep the elements out.

hmmmmmm ok.

Think i will just chop into my loom that way then i will only need to connect the earth wire to some part.

Ok no bother i will let you know. Could even put it as the same order to save on shipping.

tbh, i think the easiest option would be to just get the little splicing connectors (as pictured) use them to splice the two cables together to make one, with out the need to destroy anything. shouldn't need to earth it as the neg will go to battery which is earthed on the gear box anyway. then just bung a bulb in a switch on. would also save on shipping.

yeah but looking at that........i would need to cut my plug off my loom anyways to get the sliver to convert to 1 cable, and 1 cable wouldnt be any good.

3 wires from the main loom, 2 from the new 99 spec. splice the positive into the positive using the little clip, and splice the earth into the earth. should only use 2 connections, suppose you could use negative as well, but I'm pretty sure it will be best to earth it. and leave the connectors on the end of the looms

edit,

let me do a detailed drawing using microsoft paint lol

probablyt be best.....not really picking up the splice thing...........so splicing isnt cutting into wires then.......i thought it needed to cut in to get to the intrenal core to allow an electricity flow, which is basically cutting it.

yeah it is, but its just cutting through the plastic casing that goes around the wire. if you took the splicing connector off at a later date, all you would have to repair is the split in the plastic shielding and not the lower end of the loom.

Ok picture didn't come out to clear, but basically the green block is the 3 wire connector on the main loom already on your car. the purple block is the new 99spec wiring loom to the bulb socket. and the blue blocks are the splicing connectors.

at least this way you wont have to hack the ends off and then join them. plus you get the added bonus of being able to reverse this at a later stage with less to do. and you have the original connector still on the loom for both the 99spec and your main harness.
