No surprises that alloy wheels can be repaired but how far do you go, check out the first pic of an innocent looking wheel, but the following two show a repair to the rear of the rim which is eye wateringly large, spoke to the owner who had become aware of the repaired wheel only after purchasing the zed.

We discussed the ins and outs of the repair and came up with the view although messy looking it was had been some time ago and was very securely done and all balanced up..... but new wheels soon as really.

No not good, did he report any issues poss vibration etc, hence why he brought it in?

No, I found it during a new owner assessment, and no vibration, the rim weld looked very thick so you would expect it to need a truck load of balance weights the opposite but no.....very odd.

first thing i thought!, is the owner now deciding on new wheels then?

it does look heavy duty but not forgetting theres not really a lot of weight there if its aluminuim welding and it might be ballanced by ally welding inside the rim under the tire on other side

That's my wheel! Lol. There is some vibration about 40mph but I thought it was the prop support bearing on its way out. I do love the wheels and was hoping to get them refurbed but will have to find a way of getting this repair checked out first. On another note - Jeff informed me that my tension rod bushes need renewing - whats the recommended replacement? Poly bushes?

Cheers,

James

Cheers for the reply Chris, I have done some reasearch on the forum and it seems undecided as to whether poly bushes stress other components - and I thought I'd read you couldn't get standard bushes seperately only as part of the arm? I'll give Mike a ring tomorrow and see what he recommends and what the price difference is.

Cheers,

James

i'm sure Mike can get them minus the arm, but i remember i had to persuade Nissan to fit them lol!, and not sure on stress levels with poly's lol, may not help other oem worn ones though on the car i guess

Mjp or dta or your best bet for info :)

I love stock bushes. no worries of fractures on the arm and a new set improves the drive massively.

Check out some of the cracks+ broken parts threads after polybushing.
