Hmmm. Am I being silly here and my inner F&F side shining through, or is NOS a good idea on a Z?

Someone on a local forum is selling this kit:-

"Nitrous Express kit, comes with 15 lb bottle (which is empty), nitrous solenoid, fuel solenoid and purge solenoid, hosing and connectors, instructions, assorted fixings and wiring, shark nozzle with various jets.

Basically everything you require to install nitrous and run it. Bought it never fitted it as you are not legally allowed to take it into Germany"

Can have it for £150.

I've never had or even been in a car with NOS before, but like the idea of it.

Do Z engines handle it ok? will it make much difference to acceleration etc? anything else I should be aware of? or is this just some pipe dream?

I have a UK manual TT with 112k on the clock, no running issues (apart from a rattley 'box which is getting sorted)

thanks for any input!

I would like a bottle just for show.lol!

i really wanted it for my na but then the engine blew..... now id be happy with just an engine :) apparently there is an issue with the whole 'x2 of everything' i got talked out of it a year ago when i first started enquiring but then got talked back into it when i finished the car lol!

What do you mean by x2 of everything?

I have a 20litere kit going in my zed.. its the size of a scuba bottle lol. I paid about $700 for my kit so for £150 that is a bargain. I had my engine built to run NOS with the right clearances and cams etc so its part of the overall mods list. Im sure you could probably run it on a standardish zed but you could probably do some damage if you get to trigger happy with it.

Its a great MOD that will deliver a lot of extra performance!!! £150 is no money for that and just think of all the fun you can have.... would be fun to do a before and after dyno as well.

You are missing the bottle brackets by the looks of it, the X2 is because the line spits to each side of the intake.

Thanks Martin, I jumped the gun a bit and I've sent him a message so hopefully he'll keep it until payday for me :blushing:

Would look nice in a white Z lol

edit: the x2 thing - is this because of the style of engine in the Z? will I therefore need more than what is pictured?

OHHHHH Nice Baz, I`ve always fancied Nitrous!! Go for it, but you will blow up :lol:

amazing videos, the science one was brilliant, thanks!

Well its provisionally mine, just need to know if its going to be a complete kit ready to fit to a Z if anyone can help? :flowers:

My complete kit is for a zed you can see some pics here http://www.project300tt.com/2010/01/30/all-my-parts-have-arrived-look-at-this-little-lot/ you dont get that much stuff with it. Mine has not been fitted yet so apart from the pics I cant be that much help. Its all basic stuff if you are missing anything I dont think it would be that hard to get. But you will need a bottle bracket.

Ok thanks for that, looks like it has pretty much the same bits as your kit. The bracket will be simple enough to get/have fabricated. I can relax a little now I know it will be mine lol, those videos have certainly sold it for me so thanks again matey

My silver zed had nitrous on it which was used a few times by the previous owner on a stock NA engine and it smoked quite badly afterwards.

He was fine up until he ran 150 shot through the engine and that was when he started to burn the valve seals out.

If you're going to run nitrous on a stock engine i'd recommend running a low shot like 50/70 shot as apposed to 100+ shot to safe

Its a 75 kit and already planned its place in the interior...

On my mates turbo bike, the nos 60 shot doesnt actually add that much bhp.But he can temporarily up the boost way + above previously because it cools the charge too+ that does it. Anyone know if this holds true with zeds??

All I know is I've got it, I love it and use it every time I go out. And I ain't blown my engine up yet!

where abouts do you have your bottle? I'm removing the rear seats anyway, but was thinking of a lightweight carpetted frame and have the bottle sat in the middle

Mine is being fitted in the middle of the boot, an amp and a sub either side!

show off :tt2:

Mine is fitted in the boot to the rear bracing. No-one see's it but who cares :) I've got an entire high end audio system which was going in the car but there's no point whatsoever as the car is so fkin loud I don't play music in it. Going to fit the ICE to my vert now.

If you remove rear seats you will find another few decibels of noise assaulting your ears. This is fine if you're using it for track but in the real world not so good.

I went for a spin with the rear seats out and loved the extra noise to be honest! it doesnt get driven much so all adds to the appeal. Plus I spent a few days removing the interior sound deadening to lose some weight so a quiet ride isn't at the top of my agenda
