I have been looking at loads of pictures of Zeds, interiors, wheels, bodywork etc etc. It seems that quite often people just seem to go to far and end up with some quite tacky features IMO.

If I can ever get the car finnished and running I am looking forward to going to some of the shows and meets. Typically do you do better in the shows having customised everything? or can you still do ok with a car that resembles a zed? even if the interior is one colour and you have no UV lights etc?

Genuine question as I have never been to a car show before so its all new to me. Money is not an object with my zed but I really have to say that personally I dont want something that looks like it has done a smash and grab at Halfords even if I stand better chances

you do well in shows for the quality or wormanship and effort that has gone into the car. a very clean car has the same chances as a highly modified car. although doing something unique makes you stand out and get attention :)

it all depends on what your personal preferences are, if you do something and like it then why worry about what others think about it

when you see pics of zeds on the forum's-what do you like to see???

make your mind up from there

Not at all mate, Most car show`s have lots of different categories, like best standard zed, most modified, biggest power etc. I totaly agree, some cars out there are just too much, but the winners cars are mostly mildly modified as that suits most people, yours will probably win them all!!! keep it real though

show and shine can be won by a stock clean shiny example to a full custom monstrosity, its up to how well its put together .

your choice at the end of the day, and tbh your car is going to be one of the best out there at the rate your going.

yeah I know what you are saying, just sometimes I think I am under doing things like the interior. Im having a nice re trim and have a lovely set of recaros but as an example im going black/black. All my pipes under the hood have been uprated to silicon but are all black.

At the end of the day it comes down too are you happy with the car. If you like the look of it and enjoy it thats all that matters I say

As said its all down to personal preference, I like 'stance' for the outside,i.e nice set of wheels and nice ride height, maybe the odd splitter, but big speakers and subs etc do nothing for me.

yes you are right, I was just curious though. My zed won a few things before I started work on it. And at the end of the day I will be pleased with it if I can get it running and just get to some of the meets and shows.

i like what your doing, its going to look the biz.if you smile when you look at it thats all that matters, remember you cant please everyone.

i wish i had the money to throw at my zed but i dont i just look after her, the alloys need re furbing etc but everytime i want to spend money on it , tax/mot/insurance or new tyres are needed. id liked to think my car looks good how it is and could win something but i doubt it

Has someone stolen funkySi's laptop lol:tt2:

Keep colours to a minimum and non-clashy usually works. You've done that with the hoses. I really don't like multi coloured hoses. Black/silver always wins for an engine bay.

Same goes for the interior. Best thing to do is not to clutter up the dash with unnecessary gauges and other stuff as it just looks a mess.

I agree less is more.....

.......the Z32 is one of those (few) cars that was just so "right" from the factory (especially from a "mainstream manufacturer)! It doesn't take much to ruin it IMO so the best enhancements are simple upgrades to its standard features.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Couldn't have put it better myself. There are soooooooo many Z32s out there that have been ruined. The car is a simple clean shape and doesn't wear huge bumpers, silly ott spoilers and lurid paint etc very well. It has a classy and classic shape and looks great straight out of the box.

Thing a lot of people want to be is 'different'. "I want to change this that and the other to be different and stand out". Often....that's for the wrong reason. The Z already stands out and get ruined when people start bolting on a calamity of fiberglass junk, gay stickers, round lights, nasty wheels and other horrendous bolt on accessories. A lot of people just buy and fit bits without really looking at the car they are going on.

Some of the worst mods for the Z32 are viper wings (without doubt, the ugliest and most hideous of aftermarket bits...bumpers aside), Veilside kits, round rear lights, razor blade rear spoilers, mesh, vents, silver wiper blades/arms, single exit exhausts, garish skirts, seat belt harness pads, vented nose panels, stickers up the doors. Awful stuff.
