it's nearly half price from a conversion tho

Very true, but the actual hardware costs only 70 Euros and 760 Euros are for the software, which to me is a bit of a rip-off price.

OK you can say that they have developed it and done all of the reaserch for it, yeah fair enough, but if it was a more realistic price then they'd sell a lot more :D

I do actually quite like it, but would also want to test drive one to see how it would perform, not only at speed, but around town etc

Surely it is a really good idea?

combine it with a Greg Dupree Auto gearbox upgrade kit.

You will have clutchless shifts and your own desired RPM.

Wonder how fast it changes gear.

Ok never going to be as good as a Sequential Dog Box with paddle shifts however it is a pretty good idea?

What's a Greg Dupree Auto gearbox upgrade kit???

Andy

been interested in this for a while now, can be used in either auto or manuel mode and has programable maps etc. there is a video of it in use somewhere but cant find it just now.iirc shifting gear was quite quick with very little delay between working the lever and actualy changing gear.

just watched the video of it working and jesus its slow at changing!! my citroen c4 is quicker LOL

i like the idea of it but cant see it being that practical on normal road use

Oh I don't know;) - lots of new automatic cars come with optional paddle shift today. I have it on my SLK350; the auto box switches between comfort, spoty and manual. Using the manual setting and the steering wheel paddles can be quite fun during sprited A/B road driving.

Pretty annoying round own though; and I reckon that auto/sport mode is quickest. But that's down to my (lack of:o) skill....

I'd be willing to try the conversion on my ZX........

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Well I got a email from ess.

Still available, shipping is included in the price to the UK. Can only be used with the non airbag steering wheel, and it also connects to the cruise control wires on the wheel (not understanding this part...)

Just watched the vid in the tt.net thread. Gotta say I found it quite hard to tell the shift delay times.

Maybe AndyGP could give us the lowdown on the shifts etc? :)

you can see him flick the changer thing but it doesnt chang up or down a gear for a good second so i cant see it being much quicker than the oem box?

Maybe that was a v1.0 - you can tweek it quite a lot - Mine does not feel that slow - but tiptronic it is not - but feel free to slag it - when you have not tried it - kinda expect that. I don't know how you drive but if you have/had an auto, a paddle change might be a nice thing to have right - It pleases me for sure. I would reccomend it to anyone who is not ready/interested/capable/funded/bothered to convert to Manual, and who can see the benefits of paddle/auto switchability.

You need the cruise control wires to power the paddles of I remember correctly - been a while.

LOL not slagging it, just said it looked a slow change???

i have a car with paddle shift so know exactly how they work ;)

lol me too - I originaly bought it with low expectations to be honest, and I was on the verge of doing a Manual swap - but it is fun, adds a new dimension to an old car, even if paddles and clutchless changes are everywhere now - anywayt I still have not managed to break my auto box so... ;-))

I have an aftermarket steering wheel and made myself several flavours of 'paddle' as well - so it's all possible..

Yep, it still loks like a nice idea. You keep the convenience of the Auto with the function of the manual.

Would seriously consider this conversion, but would defo need to be convinced by driving one before shelling out that sort of money ;)

A future mod..... maybe :D

i love the idea of that. i prob would have kept my auto zed had i seen this as it as was in great condition
